try shading techniques using graphite pencils, without drawing the 'outline' of objects, just use light and shadow for definition, this is part of the fundamentals of painting.

example would be drawing a ball without making a circle 'outline'

I like to think of the Colonials as a mix of 1930s US/UK and Ancient Greek and Roman (Ancient and Byzantine)

I think of the Wardens as French(Third French Republic), Gaelic and a little German.

Best to ask that in the lore chat, but to answer you, the Colonials generally have a Roman-style culture with some Greek influences, while aesthetically they draw from many sources, most notably the US and UK. Wardens are culturally Celtic (specifically Gaelic, it would seem) and aesthetically have a wide range of inspiration as well, though the largest influence is clearly French, secondarily with a small bit of German influence.

The Colonials specifically appear to be based on the Roman Republic.

Hense why Caoivia is even pronounced See-va in the first place. Its a Gaelic style word. Callahan is pronounced “Callî-han” so most words are Gaelic.

Collies are literally called the Legion and consist of Legionaries. Their ruler is their “Regent” and… they’re basically Romans invading “Wild North”

Yo might should have that said earlier , but i try to work on warhammer series with animated space battles and still images otherwise, story is about squats and Inquisitor who is in retirement as a roguetrader , an ork who believes himself to be a magos and acts as the inquisitors tech guy, a paranoid krieger who has a power shovel who is head of security and some wired cultists who forged a religion which claims the emperor is the champion of chaos undivded and the other gods chaos are heretics [the story would go on that the cultist starts to convince chaos warbands to fight for the emperor in order to fight for chaos along side the squats , the inquisitor , the ork magos also gets a band of RED BOIZ WHO THINK FASTER and this would start the "mad Crusade" Which would ultimately wiped out over a hiveworld but saving that hiveworld from an chaos invasion.

The Crusade is then simply redacted from official Imperial history
