From what I understand of the lore, the colonials previously invaded Caova, the continent the game takes place in, and conquered the south from the Warden empire, installing a puppet state much like japan did with the Kumontang. Eventually, the wardens launched an invasion to take that territory back, and the colonials are supporting their puppet regime. Its kinda like the Reconquista wars in spain.

This character is supposed to be a member of a sort of "Santa Hermandad".
