Your thinking is that of a commander, strategic which I like and admire.

However down in the field as an individual, in the mud and blood of the battlefield, you will want to have the thickest plate of steel you can get between you and whatever that's not so friendly on the other side.

I suppose our discussion can be summarized in that the Sherman was a better strategic tank which commanders and industrialists would appreciate more, while on the other hand the Tiger was a slightly more preferable tank for the crews operating them simply because of it's increased survivability.

Besides "Deathtraps" which I think is a book that has created a very awful myth about the Sherman from a mechanic in the rear lines that has never really seen actual combat, there is another book called "Spearhead" that talks about actual frontline combat in US tanks which I recommend and also talks about the shortcomings of Allied armor in the bocage country of france, even thought perhaps the big cats didn't fare much better but I'm more talking about the anti-infantry capabilities of the defenders.

@meager scroll you might be interested in this thing I made, it's for a personal project, but I needed to really sort of put the movements of the Boreal Wars that lead up to the failed invasion of Whedon's into something I could look at and have there to remind myself. I feel like this might be a good thing to go off of, at least imo.

Everything is yellow, including the dotted yellow line going from east to west is the Colonial movements just after the breach (which I envision all happens within like 1-2 years and makes the Wardens start peace talks, both sides disagree for a number of years and so forth while small skirmishes happen every so often along the stalemate line. The war eventually breaks out again once the Colonials realize the Wardens have just been stalling as they move lots of their infrastructure north as well as fortifying in preparation for war again. And then this is where my map here comes into play.

• The yellow-orange to purple are army movements, etc and the color changes indicate what changes every 5 months.
• Blue X's are Colonial defeats/failures/issues that occur and these range from Warden victories, natural obstacles, soldiers dying of cold, disease, etc

A lot of the horizontal lines are where fortified lines are made, etc and the dotted color lines are units that are diverted from larger armies or new units arriving
