the increased rate of fire isnt really worth this to alot of nations as very rarely is a tank relying on the speed of fire to win a fight

Im new here, but i see a lot of you guys look to historical technologies for inspiration. This is a prototype Hungarain tank from 1944: the 44m Tas. For anyone who knows the looks of German and Russian tanks, this one is a weird mishmash of design choices (T-34 inspired hull, Pz. VI inspired turret and gun). Anyways, i thought this would provide some help if anyone wanted art inspiration for Colonial or Warden tanks. Which faction do you think would use a tank like this?

It's one of the few niches of armoured warfare that hasn't been filled yet in game

The main problem with this type of vehicles was that they were objectively shitty. they had paper thin armour to balance they extra weight of the turrets, while still being quite heavy. they were difficult to maneuver and easy to spot due to their gargantuan dimensions, and the commander was so overloaded that half of the guns often didn't have a target to shoot at.
However, with some statistics tweaks here and there, summed with Foxhole gameplay that make the commander role a little bit easier they could find they're place in game

Overall, the warden vehicles are just far more objectively shitty than the colonial ones. Not in terms of game balance, but the design choices. Quite a bit of casting on the warden tanks anyway- rounded surfaces that couldn’t be made with RHA plates. Seems like some welding in places too, bits which wouldn’t fit together otherwise,

Played a game of Commonwealth vs Japan with my mate the other day. My Churchills got thoroughly rekt by the damn mediums, so I looked up a few pen calculators. Turned out they produced precisely 2 of those tanks irl, and their 75 would’ve struggled to pen a Churchie’s side armour, nevermind the bloody six inches of frontal armour

At the same time, large sweeping changes like industrialization that change the landscape probably won't happen again for a while as a lot of recent change happens technologically rather than industrially.
We've had people moving from rural to urban with industrialization, and we might see something similar as civilian habitation in space and on moons and other planets becomes an option.
Whether we're past the halfway point on when that happens, no one knows.
But 2001 is gonna take a few more decades probably, as much as space nerds dislike that idea.
