returning to my crash problem:
i'm 75% sure its a connection problem, lag cause the game scatter and the gpu crash on rendering all the frames missed during the lag (packetloss?)

I have a couple of issues I wish to bring up, first of all when i use fullscreen I get a green flashing and wobbling and distortion of colors I will be noting in the #bug-reports room, but my biggest issue is that I go to the server browser and it comes up with only ever 2 servers, conquest 1 and conquest 2 and i cannot join either, they don't have any players on them either and i cannot see the war map like before, anyone know what's up with that?

so foxhole uses the same ports for all steam games that uses the steam servers. Ergo, If you played a game previously (say Killing floor 2 for a personal example). So those tgames can cause issues sometimes depending on their conenction and clog up those ports for the game, leading to connection issues.
Long and short is to port forward the steam matchmaking ports, as it allows the ports to remain open,relative to being pseudo occupied/closed by other games "using" them

(forgive me until now i didn't go over it till this) so its just a lack of servers showing
forgive me as well, but have you fully restarted your PC? When i had issues with the server browser before, KF2 was keeping my ports active even through being quit and would require a full system reset. If not, i'd also suggest a possible DNS purge and other various connection cache clears. (you can google a simple way to clear your DNS if you haven't or don't know how)

I have tried a restart of my PC after setting up the port forwards, it only barely effected my ability to see an extra server once in a while if i keep refreshing

You can sometimes call an ISP to have them release it for a new one.

Hi I've been having issues with the game. Simply put, I have not been able to see any playable server for about the past two weeks. I've tried uninstalling reinstalling, loading beta branches then switching back to the current build, deleting all files in the steam directory and nothing works. I've had different variations of this issue
Yesterday I had one saying my version was out of date, even though I kept uninstalling and reinstalling without a beta branch selected.
Then a single server was list named FCL-82CDK-vs-RS 0
Today I uninstalled and reinstalled and now I only see three servers named Dev branch 0,1, and 2
I haven't been able to join any of them
I've given full firewall permissions to foxhole and steam

i'd reccommend port forwarding the steam matchmaking ports through your router.
Steam has a nasty habit of keeping those ports open from previous games that use steam servers ( i suffered the same issue when i played killing floor 2) and it essentially closes them off as being used when they are not
Port forward the steam matchmaking ports and do a full restart of your PC to force a reset of the active connections to the ports.
That's about the best advice i can give you for it as that was what solved my issue with the serverlist showing up as empty

I played quite a bit before the paid release and only now got around to forking out the $20 to properly get the release. I got a new computer between then and now and I noticed that I crash randomly but commonly for little apparent reason. Here's the message it gives me:
I saw that someone above had a similar issue and was told to check the files, but that does not appear to be the issue.
My next logical step is to reinstall, but I wanted to see if anyone had another idea in the meantime.

The low level crashes are usually caused by different issues in each machine, so I have only a shotgun solution
- Reinstall graphics drivers
- Underclock your GPU
- Make sure your pc isn't overheating anywhere
- Rollback to an older version of your graphics drivers
- Rollback to an older version of Windows
Restart your pc and try again after each step and there shouldn't be a need to go any further if one fixes it.

Alright, I decided to sit down and think about the problem empirically and I realized this: virtually every single game on my computer has had a similar issue of crashing until I started running it in opengl. I tried enabling opengl by creating a shortcut to war.exe and adding -force-opengl to the end of the target but it does not appear to work. Is there any other way I could enable opengl on the game?
This is the report from trying to forceopengl and leads me to believe that the error is due to it being unable to use opengl.
Granted, I don't actually know what opengl is, so if there's a way to bypass it that may be as beneficial as forcing the game to run in it.

The opengl thing was a theory, not a proper diagnosis
I've been able to run it for quite a while by setting it to minimum size and resolution and lowest possible graphics settings
It's godawful, but it's functional.

Alright. Between opengl and screwing with my graphics settings until they are utterly non-existent I've gotten GPU usage to stabilize at 25-30%, but I'm still scared spikes might cause crashes from time to time. Does anyone have any other ideas of how I could reduce GPU load?

If its an Nvidia they are known for shipping late term abortion ROMs with 3rd party vendor video cards
What that means is if you bought for example a very early MSI GTX970
vs a reference Nvidia GTX970
the reference will be able to recieve ROM updates
whereas the MSI version will not
You can download hacked ROM binaries on forums and force flassh the EEPROM
After that update drivers to latest versions

Intel Integrated GPUs along with AMD APUs tend to lag at least one generation behind with their integrated solutions meaning that you aren't getting the latest OGL supported spec

I noticed that anything more than necessary caused more frequent crashes. IE, max settings=~95ish-100% usage and crashes within minutes
On lowest settings I can go for hours, if I'm lucky.

Well there's a lot of problems here number one, what the fuck are your full system specs @acoustic sundial . Second, that video card has only 1GB of VRAM
So it makes sense that if you run anything more than the video game it crashes.
Shit my ATI X1900GT had 512MB of VRAM and still ran CSS at like high settings
but then again it probably had as much horse power as that econo-card.

Solutions to try:
Try restarting Steam (or even better your PC).
Ensure that you have opened Steam Matchmaking ports on your firewall/router.
Ensure that your anti-virus software is not blocking Foxhole and that it has been put on a whitelist.
Ensure you check Windows Defender, even if you don't have a 3rd party Anti-Virus. As a simple test, disable all anti-virus software (Incl. Windows Defender) to see if it's blocking visibility of servers.
Set Max Pings settings in the Steam client: Go to Steam -> Settings -> In Game. Go to the dropdown box labelled In-Game Server browser: Max pings/minute and set to 500.

Okay, after wasting more time in the searching of a solution, I discovered in steam discussion that the problem clearly comes from Foxhole (That is what I though, why should I have problem only on this game and not the others) and that there is no solution. Some people have the problem, then one day, for no reason (without doing anything), they can finally see servers and play... So thank you guys for help, but I think i will ask for refund

Instead of 500, do 5000 for the sake of saying you did
And then restart PC completely. When you open Steam, run it as Admin. If possible, navigate to the Foxhole folder within the Steam game library and run the game itself as admin (I believe it's war.exe).
Also make sure to restart your modem and router after.
Give that a shot then ping me here for visibility, that way we can keep more than just my eyes on the issue.
The problem with this is there's no one size fits all solution. There's a thousand different things that cause the issue you're experiencing so it's one of the more annoying things to troubleshoot. Stream match making can be a pain to troubleshoot, across any game that uses it.

I tryed with my 4G connection from my phone, been able to see 2 servers (1 campaign low pop and 1 war high pop), couldn't join the war, but I've played 2 minutes in the campaign server. I guess that there is more than 2 servers so there is still a problem that way, and still couldn't join one of the server anyway...
I tryed again the reset my modem settings, opend ports again etc.. did nothing. I've updated all my computer soft and drivers, I don't think the solution will come from my, I'll just wait for the next patch before refund (I REALLY want to play this game !!!) Thanks for help you guys given to me

Okay I founded out solution, I turned off the router mode of my modem, and now I can access to server list !
The problem is that it's not safe (ppl say this in internet, I don't really know much things about informatic) and I don't have wi-fi anymore, and I can't access it with 192.168.0.1, I will have to reset to factory by the physical way.. So the problem comes from my modem, I'll call my ISP tomorrow. I think that you can add this information in the support page for the "can't find server" issue, it would be helpfull for ppl who's got same issue 😉

Apparently some people have the issue fixed by using some of the older drivers for their graphics cards. You might wanna try seeing if you can use older drivers. Additionally you might want to try updating your directX first

If you didn't resolve the issue @terse flume I would firstly recommend that you check that you've installed the most recent drivers on your graphics card
Also, does the screen turn black as soon as you load the game or is it only once you enter a server?

Possible Fix:
From your steam library find Foxhole, right click it, go to properties then click the local files tab, then browse local files. From there you would find "War.exe" right click it go to properties, then compatability tab, check the box that says "run this program as admin" click ok and close it.
Then start the game like normal from steam

It's certainly the most riskiest of the bunch. It's more of a dual-boot than a VM, which removes the virtual environment from the equation.
Long story short, with more and more games going to DX11 (and eventually DX12, though DX12 is a Windows 10 thing and not everyone is on Win10 yet), you're going to see less and less compatibility with games that don't offer Max/Linux alternatives
It'd be worth saving up for a Windows based gaming rig, even something basic. You can get a rig that will run most games for $500 to $600 usually through pre-build system makers (CyberPower, ibuypower, and so on). It doesn't take much more than that to get something even better.
I'd usually recommend doing a custom build yourself, but with the current GPU market being up in flames due to supply/demand issues from cryptocurrency mining, it's actually better to go the pre-built route, and likely will be for a while.

@gritty sandal THEY GAVE YOU AN IMCOMPLETE ANSWER. The virtualization software you are using is shit. Virtualbox Free, or VMware Worstation free both do not provide the necessary kernel modules to hand over the GPU for proper DirectX emulation. These kernel modules are VFIO and static hugepages for the RAM. It could potentially be emulated in software but that would cause massive lag. There have been strides in the performance handing over 3D devices through emulation software in the pre-release versions of KVM, QEMU and libvirt but it seems these kids are unaware of that.
If you want to be able to use windows to its full extent within mac you're going to have to figure out how to get the latest builds of QEMU and KVM working. Which will probably mean you have to build from source which is actually pretty easy using brew or ports. Once you've done that see if libvirt by redhat has been ported to mac as well. If so install that. Once that's done learn how to setup a VM. In particular there's an option called "Enable HW Accelerated 3D." It should work perfectly since Mac computers use Intel's shit Iris integrated graphics and support for that has existed in the open source world for at least 3 years now.
Once all of that is setup you should be able to install Windows and whatever DirectX version and play to your hearts content. If that does not work you'll need to setup exclusive GPU-passthrough which is what I do. I can also walk you through that.
Its kind of sad the lack of actual help you were able to get here.... TL;DR: If you aren't feeling like messing around in the command line I'd simply say buy VMware Workstation or use Bootcamp. Bootcamp is very little if no risk involved.

YOU DO NOT NEED TO BUY A WHOLE COMPUTER: If your mac laptop has a thunderbolt port then just buy one of these. https://www.akitio.com/expansion/node-lite As it allows you to use a full size GPU with a laptop albiet at a slightly gimped speed due to the amount of available PCI-E lanes. It is generally a cheaper and easier solution than buying a whole computer. Literally just plug and play. You'll still need a GPU however to place within that chassis. I currently Emulate OSX Sierra using AMD R9 290x video cards. These video cards have the necessary EFI ROM to work with OSX computers while nvidia computers do not. Long story short DO NOT USE A NVIDIA GPU. Anything like the R9 290 or newer should work fine, although specifically the 290 series are confirmed to work, are very power and quite affordable. After receiving the video card it would be as simple as placing within GPU bay. Plugging in laptop and enjoying all the dank video games at desktop speeds for much cheaper.

So, here's the thing - sure you could go that route but KVM QEMU is not something any ol' person tries. I had never heard of it working for DX11+ with passthrough before.
Also, to me, the external thunderbolt chassis plus graphics cards is basically a non-solution due to cost. You have to put out $270 for the chassis plus the cost of the graphics card, which really sucks in today's market. Even for a basic 1050ti, you're looking at at least $180 alone for that. So, while this is a "cool nerdy option" for those who want to dick around with VM QEMU all day, it's not time+cost effective when it wouldn't take much to reach the cost of a basic gaming PC, which at least is a more reliable option.

I use GPU passthrough when I'm playing video games on Linux
and its virtually bare metal performance without having to reboot into mac or windows
you're no longer emulating the graphics layer. You're literally handing the bare metal to the VM so there's zero performance loss. So it works with every single version of direct X.

if you're using exclusive GPU passthrough however is requires at least 2 GPUs
There is a push for a sort of hybrid GPU passthrough with the latest dev builds of QEMU and KVM however

I've tried reinstalling the game but that doesn't fix it
and sometimes the russian server pops up but I;m trying to aim for dog server

Steam -> Settings -> In Game options there is a dropdown box for "In-Game Server browser: Max Pings/minute. set that to 500 and see if you get servers now.

Alright, my thing time.
Okay, so foxhole uses steams matchmaking system to do its server listing and browsing. What this means is that essentially, its all based into a set of common ports. This can cause unforseen problems with certain games having poor optimization of this fact. (Killing floor 2 is my personal example)
Essentially, the game keeps the ports registered and counted as used and foxhole cant access them. Simplest solution is to restart your network connections fully, a simple PC reboot should do. The longterm fix is to port forward the steam matchmaking ports yo remain open.
Thats how i fixed it for myself at least
