The Warden Empire is apparently very imperialistic. I'd imagine China as an example. A number of states are were likely paying tribute to them, as a protectorate. Either the Wardens went after the Colonials are their lands, and met defeat, or presently control territory they want. Collectively, we don't know. The war has been going on for so long, there is no clear indication of who started this mess.

Flareguns are a fairly simple design, it's just a breakaway tube. It looks pretty in-line
I don't think they have taken any player models into the game yet, but I think the main reason for not having flares right now is coding related they said

If that is low poly, then I'm the goddamn queen of Britain (I take that back, I noticed the low poly... the barrel still feels higher poly though)
However, texture work and all looks nice, the inside of the barrel feels quite unnecissary (because if that is to be implemented in Foxhole, you'd mainly see the outside of it, cuz top-down)
I also can't help but keep looking at that hinge thingy blocking the inside of the barrel, that is more likely to blow the flare in someone's hand than actually fire out.

@flint jay I was simply imitating what they had done with their Carbine, which had 2k faces (triangulated), and they had the barrel with around 20~ subdivisions and they also had clipping, so I thought I'd just follow along haha - I was kind of irritated with it myself to be honest haha
Just to add, the inside of the barrel is a double sided face, with a small extrusion just to keep the end of the barrel from looking off.

Due to the camera angle, the only real benefit to this is if they ever do cinematic trailers with in-game footage (through the spectate mode). They could cheap out on that as well since it doesn't feel necessary during gameplay, but you never know.

I suppose I could just seal the interior of the barrel so the hinge won't be seen, it'll only add 20 faces anyway, that way if it were to be used in a cinematic trailer with in-game footage, at least you won't see the hinge clipping inside lol.
