The last 50 years have gotten us used to major wars not being a thing. Suddenly that's not the case anymore, and a shitload of people just trying to put bread on the table are now getting caught in a crossfire that they technically agreed to

Some people here don't seem aware of the fact also, but the only way to avoid conscription in Russia is to get enrolled into University with excellent grades on a "budget spot" (i.e., Government paying for your education), and then stay in education up to your 30s or until you have children OR until you get a motherfucking science degree. You slip up anywhere during this period, bad exam week, failed to actually enroll, your family falls apart - and its a year in the army for you immediately
