Space Station 13 is a complex roleplaying game where you pick a job on a space station and attempt to fulfill it to the best of your abilities. Typically the jobs are meant to keep the station running, but occasionally a player will be picked to play an antagonist role who's goal is to cause chaos, typically with tools that will facilitate that goal.

The game started as an atmospheric simulator, and you can really tell, because the game is stupidly complex at times. This makes it hard to learn some of the more complicated jobs, and there is a definite learning curve if you want to get into it. At the same time that detail and complexity also makes it incredibly unique. I can safely say that it is the most creative roleplaying game I've ever played, and if you can get past the learning curve, it's likely one of the most addictive.

One round you might be playing as a robotic security officer, the next you might be abducted and brain-washed into believing you're the second coming of Nar'sie (The evil blood god). Just to give you an idea of how creative you can be: I once created a moth gang where a bunch of mothpeople on the station got together and started slipping people to steal their shoes. We'd eat their shoes right in front of them (Because moths eat clothing), and by the end of the round every moth in the station was either dead or imprisoned. We didn't have any prisoner clothes though, because the moment they threw us into security we ate every piece of clothing provided to us. And that's a more basic, calm round. Don't even get me started on wizards.

Someone has too much brute damage? Tend wound surgery

Toxin damage is tricky and half the time you have to temporarily blind the person to fix damage
Cellular damage means it's cryo time

Someone is husked? Time to beg chemistry for synthflesh for the next 30 minutes only for them to have left the game when you finally revive them. aaaaaaa

They replaced patches with a consumable resource called sutures.
Chances are unless botany is competent you'll run out of sutures within 30 minutes of roundstart when the antags and security come by to swipe them.

Burns are now fixed using patches that I forget the name of. Basically the same as sutures, but not even a competent botanist will give you more.

So typically if you're suffering from even minor damage doctors will heavily push you to do surgery so they can use sutures on emergency situations.
And that's not even getting started on the new injury mechanic where people can suffer from hairline fractures and such which can only be healed using specialized surgery equipment.
