overall there are differences to each side's weaponry and vehicle base, but the grand strategy between the sides mostly remains the same outside of tactics in use of their weapons and vehicles. the goal of both factions is still capturing enough victory towns to win, and territory control is paramount. I'd personally recommend choosing your favorite color out of green or blue (or just who you like the look of better) and switch to the other side after this war, just to get a feel for both and how you like their differences more or less

I can give you a tl;dr of the lore.
Names to keep in mind: Veli, Caovia, The Bulkward and Mesea/The Colonials
Caovia, where the wardens (or most of them) come from was a powerful trading kingdom that had considerable influence in the kingdom of Veli to the point the kingdom was considered little more than a puppet state. Around this time I believe Mesea starts expanding even more
The Caovish goverment decided to build the bulkward as a way to defend themselves from Colonial expansion, leaving the Kingdom of Veli to feel abandoned by their ally and a colonial friendly faction within the kingdom starts to grow. A civil war happens between the colonial backed rebels, and the caovish backed goverment. The loyalist eventually lose, this leads to The Battle of the Red River, won by Colonial Republican Forces.
From here there's not much, nobody knows for sure who started the wars and I believe the devs have stated they won't say who has. Closest you'll get to it is that Caovia was messing with the Colonial economy, but still unclear if this was a cause for war or just something that turn both nations into even more bitter rivals.
All I can say, is that you can blame that wall for the wars
My personal theory: There's this alliance whose name I forgot in the lore, technically the warden allies but afaik they did not come to aid the nation during the wars, which leads me to believe that while colonials might have fired the first shot (given what we know of them: expansionist and militarists), wardens probably provoked them or did something that made this alliance not want to come aid their ally
