It makes a huge difference. Without it I have all fans screaming and the thing heats up to a million degrees and I get terrible frames at 100% CPU usage. With Optifine and the framerate locked it quiets down a bit.

So yeah, gaming on a mac is still a joke. Most of the games that do "run" are run through multiple compatibility layers and are still often glitchy. Those that are built to run natively run great but are often $60+ and can only be played on mac.

From a game development perspective, adding macOS support to a game is a nightmare.
