not really honestly, but with the issues in your team, defenders arent really that important

honestly, with mitoma, mbuemo, saka, botman, gusto, and quite a few other issues, i think id wildcard. you could probably? salvage this situation without a wildcard, but youll have to take some hits, and i just dont know how youd navigate.
but i guess with haaland son salah maddison, you got quite a few of the main wildcard players
like once you do mbuemo/mitoma to diaby, you arent too far behind

generally it is better to use it with the ib yeah.
you could just do saka to son, and hope you do decent this week, and use it with the break if you want. its safer with the ib, but i dont think the team changes too much between gw8 and gw9
