How do I start the battle of illum flashpoint?

It should have popped up to go to your ship terminal or the fleet, if you are not yet level 47 or higher it won't show for you until you level up to at least that

once you reach level 47 you can grab the start in your ship terminal ... location of that terminal is different on different ships but it will show up as a purple/pink triangle over it when you are eligible

if you have done it to the point of the flashpoints then you just need to go to the lower level of the Illum base to follow through into the flashpoints that finish the story there

is it maybe in your mission log but not tracked?
