#what’s the best way to subscribe to swtor im installing through steam
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
I'd say it's safer to subscribe via the website; there have been times where doing so through steam caused problems
you can still play it via steam, near no difference between steam and website for playing
just easier to sub on website
That’s the main reason I’m asking it’s been a while since I’ve played swtor but from what I remember that sometimes there were talk about how when you subed through steam it wouldn’t work
Another question how do I make sure it’s just a one time subscription
So it doesn’t keep charging me because I don’t want a recurring? Thing i just want to be able to play through the game and I heard that I only need to have previously subscribed to do that
Am I correct or
you can sub at any point and still be able to access the expansions (even after your sub ends, the expansions that were out during the time of your sub and it's respective level cap will stay forever)
here's the info on the diff choices for how to sub
personally i do 30 days since it's the smallest, and when i decide i don't wanna sub anymore i just cancel it
from still charging me every 30 days
So I don’t need to be subscribed for 1 month I can just play the game expansion and all without continued subscription
as a f2p you have access to all 8 origin stories, Ilum (epilogue) and 2 expacs - RotHC (Rise of the Hutt Cartel) and SoR (Shadow of Revan)
KotFE (Knights of the Fallen Empire) onward require you have subbed atleast once
but after that sub expires, it doesn't lock you out of the expac content that was out during your sub - you still get access to play it
So i just need to subscribe one month and then I don’t need to subscribe again until say the next update
'til next update that puts out a completely new expac (in this case 8.0) yea
as long as you subbed atleast once during an expac, you'll get all the updates of story associated
regardless if you stay subbed for it; just matters that you were subbed at some point in the expac
But if It doesn’t get rid of my old expansion after every update even if I’m not subscribed
naw old expacs stay with you forever
Another question I can just subscribe once and then remove all payment details from the site and it can’t charge me at the end of a subscription I’ll stay subscribe all the month and then they can’t charge me until I buy it again like (basically can I turn auto renewal off)
yea you can sub once, make sure it goes through, then cancel it recurring; you'll have the sub time you paid for kept
(re: https://www.reddit.com/r/swtor/comments/snyk08/can_i_buy_a_1month_subscription_and_then_cancel/ and other such posts relating to the topic)
(some comments under that post will mention Origin - Origin is no longer around)
How do I cancel reoccurring
My Account -> Subscription -> scroll down, bottom-right of the box will have Cancel Subscription
Steam issues arise mainly from 2 things
-
the swtor account is disabled, can be from a number of reasons, when this occurs no gametime can be added to that swtor account not even by support (until the issue is resolved) and steam fails to add as well.
people will usually get a pop up saying an account issue exists and they cant purchase on swtor.com, mind some then try to buy on steam and wonder why they dont have any gametime -
the swtor account is not linked to steam before they purchase, when this occurs the system purely just doesnt know what account the gametime can be added too.
wait so when the next expansion comes out (8.0), you have to sub once again to get back the perks you had before 8.0 or you keep those and subbing again would just give you the new perks that come with 8.0?
so with preferred status, you retain certain perks from when you were a sub, such as the ability to play the expacs (that were out during your subtime) and reach the level cap that was in place during your time as sub (right now, 7.x's is lvl80);
for more on what stays, goes away, or gets modified, there's a tip in #general-tips towards the top of the channel with a hyperlink to the differences between f2p, preferred, and sub
if you're still subbed during the point that 8.0 comes out, you'll already get access; the resub assumes that it ended before its release
so resubbing (if the latter situation) will give you the ability to play 8.0's content, and give back any perks that were previously modified or taken when you were preferred status
hopefully i worded it correctly - if not feel free to ask any other questions and i'll try to answer
so the most optimal time for subbing once would be close to when 8.0 comes out so I unlock the 8.0 expansion and everything before that, but is there a specific time or range for when 8.0 will come out?
