Most people have that problem if the start playing GSF, Upgrades, Crewskills and exp. are the main issue but you also have to learn how to play GSF and that takes some time.
Also you need to learn which ship helps you in which situations/simulations the most, when you need to switch your primary weapon and what secundary weapon works best for you.
It just takes time and patience believe me most people here will know that.
