Operative or vanguard wich class is better?

Depends on play style, what you’d prefer to do, and what kind of player you want to be

Vanguards can tank. Operatives can heal.

Operatives have stealth. Vanguards have heavier armor so they won’t take as much damage/aren’t as squishy

Both do a bunch of dps. Both are mid/melee classes. So you won’t be super far away

If you’re wanting something much more long range maybe look at commando or sniper

But both the classes excel more at a melee range

Depends on who you ask. I like playing a marauder so I would say marauder is the best class but I have a friend who likes playing Vanguard they think Vanguard is the best class it really depends on what you want to do

Every class has a set of strengths and every class has a set of weaknesses a best class doesn’t exist as there are other classes that may do better things however the class you may want to play may do well in the areas that you wanted to do

What is your goal in the game is it to just level and have a good time or are you trying to do something else

The "best" overall class is, while subjective, not as debated as it use to be. the overall ranking of the top 5 is all but agreed apon by most people in endgame with the rest being a little bit more open to interreptation.

What matters most in consideration is what content you intend to play, what you prefer in terms of combat. from ranged to melee to complex rotations to as simple as possible etc.

In terms of “fun” from a leveling perspective. I like the idea of either sages (chucking rocks at the enemy), the operative/scoundrel (sneaking around “heavy” enemy checkpoints and then shotgunning or knifing someone in the back) powertech’s cool because you can light people on fire, inquisitors can just electrocute everything, those are just the things I can think of off top of my head

Have you confirmed your endurance level is high as you can with the sink down depending on your discipline it may one or two shot you when I did this I soloed it was as a marauder I also had help from the dog that you get temporary early if you help them

You also may need to interrupt the very fast cast I had to predict it a few times it’s kind of rough

If you have the resources and choice of a companion then you may try and use Z00M to out heal the damage while you run tank

Oh absolutely when I did it it probably took me a couple hours for that fight specifically it is a very difficult challenge to do solo and while I was able to do everything as a marauder it may not be possible with every discipline you may want to look into potentially going through a different discipline with more self heal or a different companion if possible

Is there a "straightforward" or easy way to ensure you get 8 per match? (so far I've mainly just been trying to fight around objectives and such but curious if there is something a little more braindead/algorithmic)

also what is meant by "bound to you for X amount of time"? Like if you don't use it you lose it from your inventory completely?

the first part

Ensuring 8 medals is never guranteed per match, but things like: getting 1 kill, getting 5 kills, getting 10 kills, etc give multiple medals, so if u do like 5mil damage, you may get a few medals based on damage alone, i found the easiest way is to play jugg tank, because u can get damage mitigated medals, damage dealt medals, kills, and healing done, medals, ive gone upwards of 15+ medals while just kinda sitting around & defending objective in warzone w/o dying

this part: it looks like you bought these boosts from the cartel market, cartel market items are bound to you for 2 days, once the timer is up, however, you may sell them on the gtn, or send to a diff character, etc

when the timer runs out, no they won't be removed

all it means is that if you wanted to sell them on the gtn for credits, then you'd have to wait 1d 12h for them to unbind, then u can sell/trade them all u want

which also means, if u have a bunch of credits, you can buy them off of the gtn, where players have opted to sell theirs

it can be if you dont have very many credits, the sink will come from augments, where mk-11 kits can be several mil for the 1 kit, and then the augment itself can be upwards of like 30+mil for purple, 300+mil for gold

where like, it may only be around 1mil or less to upgrade your augments

By default. New characters should start with the preset/starting interface. It shouldn’t be creating a brand new custom one

Usually, when I create a new character, it starts with the default one. I’ll then press the + sign next to the first ability and click one of my custom interfaces and it’ll match my other characters as they all use same interface. But by default, no. Every new character will use the preset starting ugly interface

hey returning SWTOR player, super excited about the styles thing but im just wondering how story breaking is it, for example id love to play a sith warrior origin w/ the sorceror style

iow i prefer the "wizard" combat style but i've heard as far as "puppy kicking evil" goes sith warrior handles it alot better and if im going sith i may as well embrace it (inquisitor is apparently more politics)

So. Class actions in cutscenes don’t change. If you were gonna force choke someone in warrior story. You’ll still choke them, instead of lightning. But I started running through a bounty hunter storyline as operative and it feels pretty good.

In terms of the actual story. All of them are well written to a certain extent. Some are more enjoyable than others. Most people agree Agent is the most well written story, even if there’s personal favorites. The quest rewards like gear and such reflect your combat style as if it didn’t you’d get gear you couldn’t wear in some cases

Stronghold deco jukeboxes -- is there any known bug where they won't play, just keep cycling right back to their clickable state every time you click on them ?

Try going back to Nar Shaddah, leaving the ship and the hanging, and then manually going back to your ship via the hanger.

Some things are triggered by entering or leaving the hanger or ship, or other areas, going back to before there was so much fast travel and such.

i don't know what's right, take them if your hp is lowering and companion struggles with healing
i did this fp only twice, first time right after 7.0, i didn't know i should run so much and it kept killing me so i asked my friend for help (iirc she ignored adds on her tank), and second time not long ago, i killed them because they were annoying but the fight wasn't difficult
also if you're 80 lvl make sure your gear is 318+ irating because at max level there's a penalty for using old gear

There are some here and there on planets from previous expansion, but none on fleet to my knowledge. Gear is already pretty unimportant while leveling though so using moddable gear to get weapons and armor to a good level is more than enough

Another armor set you can use, is while you do heroics between level 70 and 80, you'll get some locked caches you unlock via Knights of the Fallen Empire

Juggernauts are the opposite of squishy, using heavy armor, have a good chunk of self-heals and HP buffs, as well as multiple very good defensives. Vengeance Juggernaut in terms of damage is incredibly hard hitting, very fun to play, and overall just fun

Marauders, are on-par, can outperform juggernaut however the specs are definitely much more difficult to master, (except maybe carnage that one is just button mashing lol)

but, in terms of survivability, have very mimimal self-heals, like 1 or 2 more defensive buttons as juggernaut, so they can get hit if you press the right thing at the right time

For Sorcs, they can be very squishy if not careful, due to being ranged, they have casts, which can hinder your mobility if not careful

Lightning is incredibly flashy spec and just overall fun to play, it gets outperformed by most specs at a top endgame level, but can still do enough dps to beat damage checks.

Madness is also fun, but definitely not as flashy, it's literally just using force diseases to make the enemy die a slow death

(I say slow death, it does more damage than lightning if you perform at equal skill levels, but like, definitely doesnt feel that way sometimes lol)

As someone who runs nightmare raids, a powertech is always nice for damage checks. Their damage is always nice when in a skilled player’s hand. Their rebounder is always nice for 1 juicy reflect on the party. But the downside is that they are melee, and not much in the way of defensives.
Snipers are another class we enjoy having in a party. Their sniper bubble is a huge party mit for a good amount of time and is super useful on a ton of bosses. Their damage is also very very strong. Probably just under the powertech. They also get a ton of defensives that can make them fake tanks if done correctly. Including immune damage on their roll, absorbing damage with shield prove, very long lasting aoe mitigation, etc. their big downside is that they have a lot of casts. So moving can kill their damage if not done correctly

Both classes have anti knockback capabilities, both classes have multiple viable dps specs

It really is just personal preference

When I was a noob, I used to think that only certain classes would reach certain amount of DPS/Power, but I think the most important thing is simply to look up guides and ask people for help on how to properly use your class.

In general the planet arc will go hand in hand with the class story as far as where it sends you, they're designed to happen at the same time. Then there's the bonus series that usually come after you've finished the planet arc and the class storyline. The cantina channel has a list of all the content and it's story order pinned.

oh, I misread that sorry, the "unidentified" one is truly random, it just looks at your class/loot type as far as i know. DPS/Healer get DPS/Heal Gear/Mods (same thing), Tanks get Tank Gear/Mods. The rest for example if or which letter your mods get for example is random from my experience but true a list doesn't really exist.

It can be that i totally explain the wrong thing to you because you mean something else, but if you are a Pyro-PT (DPS) and set your Loot-Discipline to Shield-PT then you should get from the seller with the gear for techfrags mods, enhancements for Shield-PT (Tank).

For level 80 mods (blue and purple) with a rating from 328-336 you need Hide and Zeek.

And if you do set it Tank, you'd expect to get one with Def.

i don't recall if there was a significant difference in XP on different planets, but i'd choose lower lvl planets because their heroics are faster (except Nar Shadda, those felt too long)
also for leveling i'd recommend the hammer station flashpoint, it's probably the best thing XP/time wise (activities menu (ctrl+g) - group - filter - hammer station - queue, then just follow the group to skip mobs and spacebar the dialogue)

lower level heroics may give a slight decrease (maybe like 5% or 10% less than on level, but being over level means you'll kill the lower ones quicker, and they're just easier to run with a companion, so the time you save by doing them, especially ones on like Coruscant, Dromund kaas, Korriban/Hutta/Tython/Ordmantell will just be quicker than others,

and so by the end of it will give more xp

As mentioned, Flashpoints are also good experience, some people reach lvl 15, and then just: ONLY use flashpoints to get to max level. I honestly think those people are insane and need help

the only bugs i heard of are 1) you need to deconstruct your own crafted stuff, not bought from the gtn 2) don't deconstruct very large quantity exceeding 100% needed to learn the schematics
generally it feels quicker when you deconstruct large stacks, but i always wanted to keep stuff to sell if i get the schematics quickly, which didn't happen often xD

Okay odd question that didn't get good results on google, but i just finished chapter 1 on Smuggler and loved the story, I cant wait to do more but im playing almost purely for story atm.

Depends on your spec. Deception feels kinda weak but if you’re doing Low end content/solo stuff it does plenty. I’d you’re playing hatred. It’s a dot spec so will feel weak even when playing well because the numbers won’t feel big. You’ll just get a lot of them due to dots.

If you’re playing darkness well it’s a tank so damage isn’t really expected

When played well. Hatred will always do more than deception.

But that’s assuming you know how to play the spec.

Check out the #resources channel for the theorycrafters discord. It’ll give you the rundown on how to play. But basically you have 2 long dots. And a short one (eradicate) death field gives death marks which increase dot damage. Leeching strike is hardest hitting ability so you gotta use that off cooldown.

When played correctly you should have 100% uptime on eradicate. By using the free casting procs. But it’s a bit of a challenge to do consistently so just practice.

Don’t know many places that gives stats on that, but looking at what’s most popular for introductory operations at max level, arsenal/gunnery on merc/commando seems to be easily the most popular, with the merc/commando heal combat style and lethality/ruffian on operative/scoundrel a bit behind, then most other tech combat styles not far behind that

In terms of dps: the easiest specs include Deception, AP, arsenal, vegeance

for healers: sorc healer is probably the easiest to learn, as it's just good all around, however merc/commando is very well liked due to it's burst healing

and if you can get good w/ merc then you'll always be welcomed

for Tanks. Juggernaut's the easiest to survive with, and PT has high base damage resistence. Assassin can do the most stuff in terms of cheesing mechanics, but harder to master

the options you have that include a healing sublcass are

• Commando (uses an Assault cannon, burst healing)
• Mercenary (exact same abilities as Commando, uses 2 blasters, though)
• Scoundrel (uses one blaster, healing over time)
• Operative (uses a blaster rifle, same abilities as scoundrel)

I personally find Mercenary/Commando to be easier to play but that might also be because Mercenary has been my main class for 10 years

"Trooper" just determines what story you play.

that depends on what specialization you choose in the game (you can switch at any time outside combat)

if you look at the screen you sent a screenshot off

at the bottom right you can see "Combat medic", "gunnery" and "assault specialist"

those are the 3 possible playstyles of the Commando combat style

"combat medic" is a dedicated healer and your role in group content would be to keep everyone alive

using one of the other two, your main role is damage but since you are playing a combat style (commando) that has access to a healer specailization, even your damage specializations will still include like 3 healing abilities

those are more for self-healing in an emergency

but yes, generally speaking all healing abilities except for at most 1 per class can target all members of your faction

As far as I know, apart from what the blurb says on your loading screen for your character, no. If new story comes out that you haven't done before, it should pop up for you automatically in purple in your mission log

Only way to know where you up to is by which missions you're currently holding onto

If you a story only person who does not wish to do raiding and the live then it's completely worthless too you

If you want to do endgame raiding, buy cartel items to make your character look cool etc then i'd say it's worth considering

But just think about how many hours you wish to put in and your goal is within playing the game

No real way to check to my knowledge, but for revan i guess if you saved the armor you get through rishi that’s an indicator you did it, and if you haven’t unlocked yavin 4 dailies you didn’t do story past that, for rothc I believe you can pick it up at the mission terminal on your ship if you haven’t completed it, even after doing kofte and more, so if it’s there you skipped past it and if it isn’t you didn’t skip

Shadow of Revan wouldn't be easy to tell but ROTHC does NOT auto complete also Illum and Oricon do not auto complete on start of KOTFE or Ossus

i'm not good at math, so i'm not sure in my calculations, but i think it's doable: 11 weeks left (not counting today), as a subscriber you get 8 points a week (login reward) + 2 points a day (for 25k CQ points daily) + 8 or 12 points x 7 weeklies; you'll need to do a few more difficult objectives that give you 12 points (1x12+6x8 a week should be enough)
i't definitely enough time to reach 100 lvl, though i don't know about the reputation, it has weekly limit and because of that it may not be enough to reach max reputation during the season

if you're not subbed, you get only 4 points as weekly login reward and 6 or 10 points per objective, so you'll need to do a lot of 10-points objectives (about 4 a week) but some of them are for subs only (i'm not subbed and currently at lvl 77 - done in 2 months)

There is an ops boss for gree event but it's in its own phase

that's a heroic boss

i doubt many people use the groupfinder for uprisings tho, usually they LFG/LFM in the fleet chat
2 players + companions are enough for vet uprisings

i absolutely hate the 2nd boss in Done and Dusted xD she instakills you if you don't hide quickly enough but she still can fire thru some boxes i tried to hide behind >_<

i unlocked a purple grade 11 mission, deployed Vette on that mission, then i noticed a recent mail from the GTN and recalled Vette to craft one more item, then i tried to send her on that mission again but it's nowhere on the mission list
every time when i recalled my companions before, the cancelled mission appeared at the bottom of the list and i was able to deploy my companion again
now it just disappeared, i can buy a new unlock, it's not grayed out

I started the quest for galactic season 5, I have to kill 5 strong or elite enemies on dromund kass, I have been doing all the heroic missions and killing a few elites ehre and there.
Still 0/5 on the quest, am I missing something ?
There is no companion so I imagine there nothign specif like past season to have equiped to validate it

It works on my samsung s22. I use the swtor app, some people said they were able to use google's authenticator, I didn't even know you could do that. maybe that will solve some issues people are having.

Madness sorc and hatred assassin both do good damage for endgame raids from what I've read

I believe hatred assassin is the higher of the two right now

Assassin hatred has the best ST damage in the game with really good AoE

But for a melee character it's very squishy so it's made as a glass cannon rotation is easy but keeping alive is not

As for sorc it does less damage but still very good damage but it being ranged gives it the ability to avoid many mechanics and focus on dps where others can not

Go to another server, and you'll have to unlock species again on that server

I never done it before and apparently there is a companion, but I cannot see it in my collection, is it normal ?

this is one of regular events, it happens about once in 2 months, you need a high reputation and event currency to buy the companion's contract from the vendor, even if you do the weekly on multiple characters there's a weekly reputation cap, so it will take a few events to achieve it

if i am a jedi serenity shadow, can i use a single-blade lightsaber without losing too much dps? it seems like the only ability that needs it is shadow stride which doesnt seem too bad to lose and i like the way the single blade looks better but wonder if im missing something important

Its probably just left over from when you as a inq would be proficient with a lightsaber before picking a subclass

I wouldnt reccomend using 1 lightsaber in endgame stuff but like for leveling and your own RP like go ahead
