Am I wrong in thinking that "sleep" and "cc" are two different things? I've been told many conflicting things but I thought that Sleep was what stealth classes can do (that don't aggro) and that cc was what non-stealth classes can do (like merc's concussion missile), but I've seen people use them interchangeably?

For a heroic Paladin theme, is jedi knight closest class to pick?

Paladin usually relies on both melee and magic. Guardians “force” capability is like force jump force stasis, etc. I’d look into maybe double classing both guardian and sage. As sage has the more force abilities, can heal, etc. while guardian can yank.

If you're referring to crafting augments at endgame for gear it's not easy and takes a lot of items

it doesn't depend on your class
the only endgame crafted stuff is augments and adrenals (+perhaps grenades for PvP), the rest are cosmetics

for augments:
armormech (+scavenging+underworld trading) - absorb, alacrity
armstech (+scavenging+investigation) - accuracy, shield, versatile
syntweaving (+archaeology+underworld trading) - critical (the most popular), redoubt
+you'll need another char with cybertech to craft a component needed for gold augs + slicing to get mats

biochem (+bioanalysis+diplomacy) is perhaps less profitable, but unique 'cause 700 bio allows you using gold medpacs/stims/adrenals and save money on them

So, Dantooine is an event that happens from time to time, at the moment the current event is Relics of the Gree so the event missions, currency, etc will be on Ilum

But eventually whenever Dantooine comes around, you'll be able to do rep missions, get the items from the vendors, etc

Merc and gunslinger are both ranged and have aoe puddles. I know both have both a pretty easy discipline in terms of arsenal merc or marksmanship gunslinger. Both have decent aoe. But dot specs have a ton of aoe. The dot specs for each are a bit more tricky.

There is a lot of unmoddable gear in the game. Just base stat stuff that's meant for leveling, so you don't have to worry too much about it. Moddable/adaptive gear tends to be toward endgame.

there are a bunch of long CCs iirc

that you might have trouble surviving alone

so it's not nearly as bad as it could be

if regular gameplay isn't fast enough for you, you can either run stuff like story mode black talon which gives a bunch of morality choices

What's the difference between Satele and Starforge?

I joined somewhat later, and went to Starforge, hearing that it was the RP server.
My friends who quit a long time ago (but are restarting today) say their characters have all been directed to Satele, though they insist they used to be on an RP server.

We want to play together, but we're not sure what server we should go to.

The main difference is player count. Both servers are located at the same place, both have healthy populations, SF just in general has more activity and more options. Both servers have some migrated players from the last server merge which slightly effects the population, but that was over 5 years ago now.

What you should do as yarrow suggests is buy a super cheap one of the GTN normally easy to get one for a few credits

If it's still grayed out then you need to contact support/ file a bug report most likely

Typically starforge is the more populated of the two servers

With shan being the one more known for heavy rp. While forge is considered the only one worth bothering with if you want to do group activities like operations and pvp

and yes you can sell the gear from your inventory after you're done, if you don't want it for any other outfit slots; you "stamp" outfits onto your character so they stay unaffected until you purposefully change something about it

yo, I’m kind of new and this is the first mmo game I play and I’m still getting used to it but, what’s a better way to get creds other than just selling it to the npc vendors? I’ve been kind of struggling on getting creds and since armors cost a lot of creds I figured I’d ask here

to get some pocket money (rather millions than billions) you can learn gathering skills like archaeology, bioanalysis and scavenging (trainers are located at the fleet Strongholds&Crew skills section - outer ring, or capital planet city market), and send your idle companions on gathering missions (press "B") + gather resourses from nodes across planets, and then sell materials on the GTN

Alternatively. When u get around level 50-60 you can do dailies. Sec X, BH, Y4, CZ198, doing all the weeklies on a toon is like half a mil unless they nerfed it

iirc the chat unlocks at 20 or 25 lvl for f2p
you can find the legacy bank (yellow/orange) at the fleet, but to access it you might need to purchase a stronghold
pick a quest from a big hologram dude at the fleet (Strongholds section) or on Coruscant/Dromund Kaas, then buy a stonghold from the terminal (capital ones are cheap), travel there (press "U") and you'll get some free decorations including mailbox and a legacy bank

also yeh joining a guild has some nice benefits, both by default as well as those the guild may set up on their own

there are many types of guilds, i.e specializing in pvp, ops (endgame), rp, casual, etc.
can also be more than one as a well-rounded guild

don't feel like you have to join a guild tho; if you don't want to, that's 100% fine

If you get the artifact unlock you’ll be able to wear everything. If you bought it for that character will only apply to that character. If you bought it for legacy then all characters can. In terms of preferred you’ll still have restrictions like credit cap, crew skills, etc

Regardless once obtained. It’s saved even when sub runs out you’ll be able to wear artifact gear

What's the difference between hatred, vengeance, and annihilation? I'm trying to pick an AoE DoT focused class (new to the game)

Ok so hatred assassin is high tunnel damage. So good at fast damage and slows down over time. It's AoE is a cast spell so you decide were it goes. Not very tanky

Vengeance is AoE none cast. So the AoE circle is around your character itself do you need to move into the combat to use it effectively. It's 'slow' but constant high damage and is the most tanky dps class in the game

Annihilation is by far the hardest to learn. But provides great group healing

you can use the legacy bank (yellow/orange one) for free, it's server-wide so you can transfer items between your character via the legacy bank, you can find it at the fleet (central hub when you leave the starting planet), though i'm not sure if you can use it right away or if you need to purchase a stronghold first
(anyway it's a good idea to purchase a SH, at lvl 15 (iirc) you can get a mission from a hologram dude at the fleet SH section or on the capital planet, buy a cheap capital SH, teleport there (press "U"), and you'll receive some free decorations including a mailbox and a legacy bank)

to use the personal (character-only, green one) bank you need to subscribe at least once (or to buy the unlock from Cartel Market)

Is there a big difference in survivability between Vengeance Jug and Hatred Assassin? I'd like to have a Jug/Sorc character, but I was told elsewhere that I should have my second class be Assassin bc the stealth helps with farming Heroics. I'm new to the game, so Idk if the armor difference between Jug and Assassin is big or not, especially since both are DPS specs. EDIT: Forgot to say, character in question is Jug; dillema is making Jug/Sorc or making my main an Assassin/Sorc

In the context of heroic and other easy-ish/starting out aspects no. The major difference is having stealth which is just good utility wise across the board, but certainly not necessary for heroics. Realistically unless you're fairly determined to only use one toon (which isn't necessarily a bad thing starting out, but swtor is very alt friendly) or plan on regularly swapping between combat styles to fill specific roles (which likely won't be a factor if you focus dps); picking the styles and combos you like will be better.

Some end game currency for gear upgrades is given out as conquest rewards. More toons also help with lockouts for ops and allow for more weeklies for even more rewards. The more level 80 toons you have, the easier it is to gather those rewards. Endgame gear is pretty much all bound to legacy. As for pvp having stealth alone significantly increases your ability to survive, although that mostly depends on context of the pvp.

The difference in tankyness is massive lol

Hatred assassin is not tanky at all it's very squishy be design because it gets the ability to stealth

While jugg has almost as many defensives in it's dps spec as it does as a tank spec so it can take a stupid amount of punishments

The difference does not change much between pve and pvp

It depends on what you want more. If you want an endgame character for operations and pvp or if you want something for running heroics, flashpoints etc

For the assassin-juggernaut issue, I'm more interested in a character for semi-casual PvE (don't foresee myself getting into hardcore Operations). PvP on each sound cool, but I think I'd like to stick with ranged (hence the Sorcerer interest, I've heard that Madness brings quite a fair bit to 8v8s)

Madness main use is that it's a good dps and it has very good self heals. Which are getting knocked a little at 7.3 but overall will still be good for pvp

If you plan to be semi-casual then all you really need to consider then is if you want a stealth alt to sneak past everything
Or if you want a jugg to be able to face tank most things

You had mentioned there is a difference in tankiness, and it's because of abilities not armor right? I'm only lvl 23 on my Vengeance Jug, so I don't see how it's all that tanky; would you be able to briefly say what eventually makes it tankier? The stealth difference makes sense, but I only got a CC break (which I think everyone gets?) and a block boost thing (which I think all force users get too?) right now.

Yes dps armor has little too no difference till endgame and even then you just mid max to make them all the same but i digress

So for jugg it gains 4 seperate and a bonus one if you spec into it.
.a AoE ability lowering the AoE damage taken by 60% for several seconds and lowers your threat
. A self heal that will heal your for roughly 60% of your maxium health until you hit 100% then stops. So best usef on low health
. Your cleanse ability which grands you 30% more health for 10 seconds
. Saber ward that cuts incoming damage down for awhile
. Saber reflect which reflect certain attacks etc from your enemies back at them doing decent damage and building aggro

Assassin gets like 2 defensives and they no were near as good

Again because you can stleath as them

I can’t speak for healers. But in terms of marauder. Anni is a very strong spec, but probably the most difficult in the game to master/perform well. Fury is still very good and would recommend it over anni if you’re a newer player

you get personal CQ rewards immediately once you get 100k CQ points (the completed mission pops up), so the reward is according to your current lvl

and you get guild CQ rewards (if you're invading planets) on tuesday after the weekly reset, i don't remember how it works with leveling, but i'd assume the reward will change if you lvl up before tuesday

nope, green gear doesn't count, you'll need blue (flashpoint) item for prototype mods and purple (operations) one for artifact enhancements (it unlocks only purple enhancements, so you need blue mods anyway)

@torn crag gsf can be a good source of tech frags, & fleet comms, but is optional same as war zones & space missions. Legacy menu has lists of achieves & possible rewards.

@lime pagoda recommend you save any modable shells from game, esp non class restricted legacy. U can re-mod them at 80 w hyde & zeek quest gear. pull any inserts/mods for decon for the extra frags etc, if you have extra credits to do so.

Hey folks so I got question about gearing. So I was able to mod my armor gear to 330 item rating thanks to the modable gear from zeek but my accessories are still on 324 and everything from flashpoints still drop accessories on the same item rating that I'm wearing.
Do I have to now count on the upgrade drops from weekly quests for accessories or is there any better way to upgrade them?

the missions of the same grade bring mats of various quality - green, blue and purple, to get purple ones you need to run Rich and Bountiful missions (and purple unlocked missions you can get sometimes from login rewards and slicing missions lockbox type rewards)

there are some much less efficient workarounds for pref players to farm tech frags:

1. 500 tech frags for 100 CQ points weekly for all alts 75+ lvl
2. • 300-500 tech frags weekly if you're in a guild invading a planet
3. deconstruct highlvl gear for tech frags (i farm it via grade 10-11 treasure hunting lockboxes + grade 11 lockboxes sometimes give a small quantity of other currencies like WZ, FP and OP that can be converted to tech frags at vendors)
4. convert conq comms into tech frags at SoV vendor

I'm at this mission currently and should use this item. I could use it once and then, while standing in this radiation, the protection level decreases rapidly until it hits 0 after just a few seconds. So far so good. But I can not use this item again. I click on it and nothing happens
