Hi there guys i just want some help with something that i can't seem to wrap my head around.
Im a twitch streamer and i use a sm7db/elgato xlr for my audio
i currently have my input gain in elgato wave set to 45db i am using eq a noise gate and a compressor but whenever i add the compressor it seems to make it sound so boomy or muddy? im just trying to figure out what could cause this and how i might come about a solution thanks!

The compressor is going to add some of that boomy/muddiness, especially with the default elgato settings
I find that the makeup adds a lot with elgato for some reason.
Trying lowering your ratio to 3 for starters, as that'll mush your signal less, and try manually setting your makeup gain. This makes a huge difference for me.
Please show your EQ settings as well.

i used a preset to begin with then tweaked it a bit. ive lowered the 150-300 range a bit and played around with it
