I'm serious, not clickbait, about thinking about quitting 🥹💔

That said, last attempt here! So...

Please give feedback the way that you normally would with ABSOLUTELY NO MERCY AND FULL BRUTALITY!!!

I know some of my problems (this is far from a perfect video) and I worked hard to fix it, but as always, I def don't see everything and this was a messy video 😰 so I'm desperate for a second pair of eyes!

Any and all feedback is wanted!! Thank you all so much!!

#Questions/Concerns I Have:

  • Would you say that this video had value?
  • Was the humor... Humorous??
  • How's the pacing/speed?
  • This video was a rant/vent style (which I don't usually do), so I'm especially worried about the topic flow and the voice over 🙃
  • How's the audio 🫠 I struggle with audio/music in particular
  • What OTHER issues/problems/thoughts do you have? (Really any and all comments are appreciated 🙏❤️🫂)

Thank you all so much!!!

||Sorry, I felt like I had to specify that I am 100% serious about potentially not doing new content anymore (quitting, maybe of course we could come back in a couple years or something, But for all extended purposes, this is essentially like quitting my channel||

But I would say most of your videos for me struggle from a lack of strong ideas typically from what I’ve seen at least

#

This being the most interesting of them that I’ve seen.

You’ve got a really strong narration style, I enjoyed the voice, pacing, and energy, they are genuinely great. It feels confident and expressive.

That said, the topic itself (the “war against bread”) didn’t fully hold my attention. It’s funny conceptually, but it doesn’t really build for my interest. After a couple of minutes, it feels like the main joke has already landed, and the rest is repeating the same tone.

About the visuals, they don’t really match that same energy IMO. The bread clips and the avatar moments feel more like background filler rather than part of the joke or story, so after a while it feels like I’m just listening to an audio rant with random visuals behind it.

I think you could make it way more engaging if the subject had more depth or escalation, maybe giving the humor some more places to go behind the initial war with bread joke.

Overall though, I think you’ve got great charisma and editing sense, it's just that, at least for me, the subject itself is not appealing enough to keep me engaged for 8 minutes listening about bread.

I'm glad you didn't ruin your voice / audio for this one. Sounds natural, energetic, sounds like you. No problems there. Overall I like the voice part of this.

Music choice felt a little random / generic. Nintendo music is overdone.

I agree with the points others have made about the background footage just feeling... sorta plopped in place? Typically the "switch to facecam" is used as filler, but then your B roll also seems like filler, so visually everything seems like filler. It also got very generic and bland very fast. The little memes and such are GOOD, but shouldn't be the entire video.

Using AI overview for your fact checking just feels wrong.

The topic kinda just makes me go "yeah okay." without much thought, but I actually enjoy the script itself and strongly agree about the gluten free bread argument.

I did tune out a fair bit between headings.

I would've loved this video if it was like a 3-4 minute "Ice cream sandwich" (look him up, he's cool) storytime animatic.

Unironically, this video IS gluten free bread in a way. I want my damn gluten so the video can be good!

Honest feedback:
Title + Thumb

  • Honestly, I wouldn't click on it. To me, it just doesn't have enough curiosity for me to click. Personal videos are tough, because I think to myself "This person doesn't like bread, ok cool anyways..." - it doesn't spark enough interest, not controversial enough, imo.
  • Everyone knows bread isn't super healthy, everyone knows at least one person who is super healthy/allergic to bread so thinking about this person complaining doesn't sound very original
  • I attached two videos that seemed to be covering the same topic, but one seems to give way more value than the other (getting a nutritionist's opinion carries more weight)
  • And I think that's just it - to me people will click on a video for value or to be entertained, and if you're going down the entertainment route - it needs to have a way better hook (e.g. Why US Bread Sucks") (see the other videos for example)

Content

  • After the first 30s - I still don't know where you're going with this. It seems like a rant without a clear path. Was hoping to be guided a bit in the beginning. It just kind of goes and goes.
  • At like 01:30, you basically it's evil because it's everywhere. Ok? I mean you could say that about most food products, some worse than others.
  • That's basically when I started to drop off, as you're not giving some hot take or something I didn't know already.
  • Agreed with the above regarding the stock footage stuff. If it were you in the video, eating at bakeries, walking down the bread isle etc., then yeah maybe I'll be more hooked. As it stands, I could just have no video and just the audio and the effect would be the same.
  • Audio is good, no issues there, editing is good too.

Overall, I think it's the concept that's the biggest drawback. However, I watch YouTube mainly to learn about stuff, so I might not be the best audience.

If I were you, I wouldn't quit, I'd just spend more time in the ideation/planning.

(Im not dropping feedback since the lads got it covered pretty much!) Its more of an encourangement addendum

Edit: took some time to watch it proper on my short break:

Luna! I have to say im a fan of your energy in the voiceover and the editing was fun! However, and to kind of add to what others have said already: the issues listed like the drop off in interest, the editing taking a back seat somewhere in the middle and all that, its just a matter of the way you decided to approach the topic! It kind of just goes somewhat in circles after a bit (shoutouts to rice btw lol)

The video definately would have been a better package had it been either way shorter, or made around just a general food rant ( for that length atleast) or leaning towards the entertainment factor alone( but its a bread rant so I dono what I could have done without external research on the same topic).

I'm not taking away from the personality and charm shown here, theres alot to like about you, not so much about the video and the topic
(the narration itself was great!).

I personally wouldnt have clicked on the video since I dont think about food like that lol, perhaps it will trigger bread enjoyers with a bit more ragebaiting in the title+thumb?

Thats just me tho

Just no content and a lot of repetition in the first minute: bread is evil, its everywhere. I had no idea where you were going with this so the flashy edit did not engage me but was just annoying.

Ok Sis, Let's Break this down (omg I'm sorry this just sounds so mean..)

I don't particularly see any issues with the thumbnail, maybe the text could have read "EVIL" instead, but that's kinda nitpicking, I feel like it does fine to get across what I am about to hear.

The title, however, definitely needs a slight tweak in that the word bread is just sitting there twice, [IT'S EVIL] is probably fine for the brackets, so I'm not reading "Bread Bread".

That being said... Bread bread is definitely accurate to the content. If I were to define this video, I would do so as "a hyper energy rant". It is definitely a constant barrage of words, some of them a bit repetitive but never off topic...

Juxtapose that with the similarly hyper barrage of images, and the only way I can really describe what I'm getting is the experience of ADHD.. I don't feel like I ever had a moment to kind of process anything? Like my brain works like that naturally, so I followed... But I never was given a moment to actually think and have a chance to either agree or disagree with the premise being presented to me. (Honestly that could fully be the intention I don't know)

Some of the imagery also didn't really make sense to me, it didn't really seem to have a theme and was more of any random image that kind of fit the wording... I said this before when I saw a clip from another video of yours... This looks exactly how AI would fashion a video if you gave it the script. Like AI made a video full of random meme template inserts and then there were some cutaways to your character.

I don't think it's a terrible editing style, but I certainly don't like it... It was probably the most annoying part of the video for me (sorry again that sounds mean).

Overall I personally like the premise of the video, it's definitely a real problem that oftentimes gets overlooked or made fun of as not being a real thing... And I feel like with the current imagery it doesn't get that respect, and it would just lead to people clicking away due to random complaints that aren't being driven home with the visuals that are matching.

Soooo

Thumbnail:

  • Character is expressive, definitely gives angry
  • It's pretty obvious bread is involved by the background
    • If anything sliced bread is a weird choice but again I'm nitpicking
  • Text is easy to read, but feels off
    • Maybe it's the period throwing me off, not something I've seen a lot
    • Maybe it's just that it feels repetitive over top of bread

Title:

  • Definitely feel repetitive bread [BREAD
    • What I mean should be more obvious in that snippet
  • Overall, I liked it

Content:

  • Literally the most hyper thing I've seen
*This isn't a bad thing, more descriptive
  • Some parts repeat, maybe a bit too soon
  • The visuals, while usually somewhat tangential to the audio just feel... Off
    • Again it feels like one of those AI auto-gen videos
      • And yes I have tried them to see what it does... And it's this lol
  • Conceptually a good topic
    • It's serious
    • People have definitely heard about
    • Many people think it's a lie
      • This is the one I think you need to overcome for a video like this

I think that's about everything that I noticed. Overall, I didn't hate the video, but it's probably something I would one off. If you were a random person appearing in my feed, I would likely not click a second video from the channel, at least not for a few days when my brain decides it's ok to give a second chance.

Idk if this was at all helpful, and honestly it felt mean to type... So I'm sorry 😭

@slow aspen I really think your video has a lot of potential! The idea of “bread is evil” is such a fun and intriguing concept, and it could be even more engaging if you framed it in certain ways. For instance, comparing modern bread to traditional bread would be interesting, or even diving into the quirky meanings behind different bread label colors (a short got 8mil views talking about the differences of the lables, so those kinds of angles tend to grab a lot of views)!

One suggestion I have is about the opening. The line “bread is evil” is a great topic, but it might be even more effective if you followed up on that idea more directly. Instead of shifting focus to how bread is everywhere, maybe explore the reasons behind the claim first. When we learn later that your reason is tied to your personal experience with bread, it might feel a bit less impactful after such a bold start.

Also, I think adding a bit more structure to the video could really help guide your viewers. While the title and thumbnail could use a little tweaking, I think the main opportunity lies in fully exploring your concept. The topic is interesting, and with some adjustments, I believe it could really capture your audience’s attention!

I think your script and editing is good, I love how much energy you bring into this ❤️

The video does overstay its welcome though. I like rants, they're a very personal thing - But the video doesn't offer anything aside from showing real human emotion. Which is pretty cool in and on itself but might be something people are more interested in if a parasocial relationship already exists. And if it doesn't... then it's probably better fit to be 3-5 minutes, I think.

Hey, so thank you so much for giving me a review. I'm actually going to respond to everybody's ideas and make a final conclusion soon but then I saw you sent this review and I wanted to do a check in?

This is clearly written entirely from AI using a transcript of my video, and as a result, it is saying an advising me to do the exact opposite of what the humans inside this chat are saying. This is because AI is notoriously terrible at reviewing YouTube videos, especially from transcript or script. It misses the delivery, The audio, the visuals, etc, and only focus on the words that has been picked up by YouTube. I notoriously have a voice that YouTube's transcript tends to get wrong, so I have this happen a lot when it comes to AI reviews, but this review is entirely off from the actual video.

I understand you're doing this because you want to contribute well and I 100% believe you're doing this to be helpful, but using AI to write reviews is actually doing the exact opposite of what you think it is.

I want to know what you think, what were your thoughts? You can be as in depth or as little in depth as possible, but I wanted to come from you and just you!! Your thoughts are miles more valuable to me than any AI generator review ever could be and I really really do want to hear them 🫂❤️

Could I have your thoughts? Without the ai?

# slow aspen Hey, so thank you so much for giving me a review. I'm actually going to respond ...

Hey @slow aspen

Really for this particular video, it comes down to the bread concept can't sustain 8 minutes, and the stock footage feels disconnected from your energy. Multiple people suggested 3-4 minutes would work better for this type of content.

Your delivery is genuinely engaging - you've got the charisma part down. But Marco nailed it when he said the concept needs more depth or controversy to hold attention.

The visuals do look like random memes and bread clips. Since you're already animated and expressive, lean into that instead of generic B-roll.

Before you quit though, try the shorter format everyone's suggesting? Your energy would absolutely kill in 3-minute videos. Less editing torture for you, better retention for viewers. The personality is there, just needs a tighter package.
