#Do I need to make my videos shorter?

Hi everyone, I'm struggling to find a balance with my channel: https://youtube.com/@drivingsuccess?si=oTAhobnFJokTkqFQ

Other channels in the niche post a video with one idea, and the whole video works towards that topic

For example, "we drive my Porsche in the snow with summer tires" is a competitor video

The entire video is just about the Porsche and going to take videos of it

On my channel, I take the title, and put that part at the end

Then leading up to it, is business talk, and a story of the owner

I feel like the stories could be their own separate video, and having the single idea of a car may be better for retention, as people click onto a video expecting car stuff, but can be met with business

Again, it seems like what I do now is okay, but other channels that have more views do only one topic, sometimes for 30 minutes! Just not sure how to keep the videos interesting, like I wouldnt even watch the competitions videos all the way..but a lot of people do!

Howdy @long jetty — hope life is good on your side of the screen. 👋

I'm not a regular viewer of this content, but I've got a few thoughts I'd like to share on your channel and the questions you've raised. (This is to say take everything I say with a pinch of salt-you know your audience better than I do.) 🙏

**Wins: **

  • Your production quality is great (audio, video, shots, etc.)
  • You have a great warmth about you, and it's clear why you're successful in business. You seem very approachable, and I imagine you're good at building rapport in real life! 🍻

**Opportunities: **

  • Your thumbnails and titles are really sending mixed messages to your audience, and I have to imagine that's hurting your retention / getting some percent of the audience to click off.
  • As an example, your video from 11 days ago ($1,000,000 HYPERCAR BROKEN UPON DELIVERY??? (MCLAREN CALLED)) has an intro that's totally unrelated to what people are clicking on. (screenshot)

**Food for thought: **

  • I think the content in your first video is actually stronger than the "shocking headline" that you're using. Loads of people struggle with taking their first steps as an entrepreneur—lean into that fear / trepidation in your packaging and I bet it'll resonate with people.

One of the questions you've asked is:

Just not sure how to keep the videos interesting, like I wouldnt even watch the competitions videos all the way..but a lot of people do!

  • My best advice: do some more research. Go into videos that are performing well in this niche and read the comments. What are people talking about? What are they liking / laughing at? What are they saying they don't like?

I consider the YouTube comments section the "cheat codes" to understanding the audience, and it's a big part of my research when I'm considering topics for videos!

Anyway, I hope this was helpful and my apologies for the big wall of text. Congratulations on all of your success, and let me know if you have any questions about this feedback and I'll be happy to expand. You're off to a great start on YouTube! 👏

Hi Clyde, thank you so much for the feedback!

I appreciate your acknowledgement of the current wins, and critiques of the video substance when compared to the thumbnail

It definitely solidifies the question I was having

I SHOULD separate the topics into separate videos

But I think that means I need to have the videos filmed to be more engaging, like walking around, not just sitting down

#

The value that is provided is definitely good, so I think people would be searching for the type of content, it's just about directing it correctly, but also having the thumbnail / title to stand out.

For example, I think we will need to film the business tips once our new garage is complete so the audience can see a more impressive car collection - not just one car (don't think it's a million views idea with one car and low subs)

#

I just felt that posting shorter videos may not have been ideal

#

Looking at other comments is a great tip. Thank you for that!

And just a side note, I am behind the camera...I wish I was that wealthy😂 though I think I'm successful in my own ways😁
