#How Can I Increase Interest in my Videos and Channel?

Hey everybody! First post here.

I've had a gaming YouTube channel centered around the Texas Chainsaw Massacre video-game that released a year ago.

While I have noticed small growths in viewership and subscribers since I first started uploading, I feel as if something is keeping me from growing at the same rate as the other channels within my niche. Though, I understand that my content isn't for a massive audience, as the game isn't as popular as other asymmetrical horror games, like Dead By Daylight.

Could I get some feedback on what I could do (or do better) to get more views and subscribers?

Please let me know if you need any information from me to better assist me with this; channel analytics, etcetera.

Be sure to not hold back! Let me know if I'm making any huge mistakes here!

Here is the link to my channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCTJMEU3NXy1x5DM9UtLdMCg

Few questions to consider:

  • does this game have a large enough following on YouTube? I want to watch the type of videos you’re making? I noticed you mentioned that, it’s entirely possible that your content doesn’t appeal to a lot of of the people you think it does in your niche, or that you just are wayyyy too specific in your content and it’s time to branch out a tad

The best way to get subs is to have amazing content that they get a benefit from. And unfortunately, your channel is way too small for us to use analytics as a serious metric right now. (sample size bias.)

#

You would like a specific video of you I could give you one

#

Gaming is really really rough and 300 subs a year is not bad for a very specific each

The only time you should really be worried about pivoting is when you have a huge returning audience Ive seen the number thrown around 1 million.

Dont take this the wrong way but 302subscribers isnt "alot"
and what I mean by that is a well produced video can get about that much or even more.

No one can really tell you how to branch out but most "horror" youtubers pivot game to game while sticking to the same central concept of horror.

Pivoting can be scary but another thing to think about is how much longer does this very niche game have left? Its 24hour peak is only 824players. With a playerbase of 824 players how many people are really looking up videos on it?

Just about any video with a coherent script, ok sounding audio, and minimal editing can hit 1k views so I wouldnt let the fear make you unable to experiment with your content.

Now if you are dead set on like "this is my game" then keep making content on it if you enjoy it. Just realise there is probably a cap on how far you can grow your channel on just this game.

In my opinion doesnt matter at all. The algorithim scans your video while its uploading and uses whatever is said during it as keywords. Previous uploads do not effect current uploads. The only time doing niche changes can hurt is for larger channels.
For example a 500k subscriber gaming channel moving to cooking will probably take a huge hit in viewership.

Up to you personally. Can see if one performs better than the other. Just want to find the right balance of quantity/quality.

#

From my experience doubling down a niche and hyper focusing it can lead to easier "growth"
When you try to niche out and do tons of different games and dont have 1 specific game your personality has to carry your videos and thats alot harder in my opinion.

#

But specific niches have specific caps. Some topics inherently are more popular and more searched.

Okay, maybe I'll try making another channel for indie horror games and see if that one takes off. That way, I can fall back onto the one I just shared with you in case it doesn't do so well.
