Major thing that I noticed was most if not all your words with the letter "S" are very sharp and not exactly pleasant on the ears, this is called sibilance. At times the music is competing with your voice and ingame audio.

As far as fortnite I have no knowledge of it but the begining hook seems fine I would assume someone that was interested in fortnite would want to watch.

@runic linden I really like your editing style in the beginning and set up but I am not a huge fan of Fortnite so I can’t make any recommendations to the retention and later parts of the video, however I think a concept like this would do really well in short form like a reel or TikTok

Agree with the prior feedbacks on two points:

• Music overtakes the content.
• An action packed shorts version of this, that is literally just action cut with some quip, action cut with a quip, rinse and repeat, with some quick relatable moment sprinkled in somewhere.

I did a short of my previous video and it got like 14k views.. and i did gain over 60 subs, but I'm not trying to be a shorts channel.

You can be a great channel and be great at shorts. Shorts is a fantastic way to get to people who wouldn’t find your channel in the first place, also if you make a short of the same topic you can link it to your long form video to funnel views to that as well.

You gotta think about people's attention span. The average person who is watching Fortnite clips on youtube is someone who is away from their computer and not able to play Fortnite at that moment. You gotta capture those precious 30-60 seconds of attention they'll give your content. Or stream. Those are the best options really. Make the long-form content the product of your shorts or your streams, not the focus.

Most people say to either focus mostly on shorts or long form videos for YouTube.
I’ve seen so many channels that have thousands of subscribers and get thousands of views on shorts, but they have like a quarter, or even less, amount of views on their long forms

I don’t want to gain mostly “shorts” subscribers.
I want to build my fan base from long form, with shorts being a bonus. Otherwise I’ll just end up a “shorts” Fortnite channel 😅

General consensus is shorts viewers watch shorts and longform watchers just watch longform. There are exceptions to this of course. You can focus on longform content and if you really want shorts just chop up your longform that links back to the main video.

That’s what I’m saying you can utilize small form to funnel people to the long form stuff but long form viewers will not transition to short form viewers

That is what I did for my first 3 Fortnite videos. I tried to funnel people to my long form vid with a short of that exact video.

But just like you said, long form viewers wont transition to short form... its the same vice versa, so that's exactly what I want to avoid

My last short was a chopped up version of the long form video... and even though the short got 14k views.. the full video is only at around 400

Shorts in general will get much higher views. My longform had sub 100views, chopping it up into 5 shorts gave about 15k views across the shorts.

Yes, I know that. But I would much rather have 15k views on 1 long form and 100 views on the short for it lol
