Huge changes to pretty much everything! ***RIP IT APART!!! *** 😈 🔥

I know there's still room to improve, but I wanted to see if this is a better improvement.

As before, the following notes are just to save you time! You can comment on anything below, answer any question...

OR skip it all and give your own take with out any suggestions!! Who needs to read these days? 😂 🙌

ANY and ALL advice / comments / suggestions are wanted! Thank you so much!!!

Problems I'm Working On:

  • Audio is still a bit off...
  • Camera quality
  • Length, it's a taster.
  • The thumbnail... God the thumbnail... 🔥🥲🔥
  • This IS NOT the final format. There's a couple other things I'm working on in the background to improve pacing and structure.

Questions I Have:

  • ** Is this a good audio balance?** (It's clear I am NOT good with audio 🥹💔)
  • Would a video like this but longer still work?
  • Is this an enjoyable video?
  • ** If at any point I lost you, when was it?**
  • Is my commentary enough?
  • Is this video unique enough on it's own, or is it too similar to other creators?

Again, thank you all so much!
I'm going to keep working on formatting and pacing, so it'll be a while before I'm actually "back for real-zes."

Keep in mind im a noob so my knowledge is of low value.

Skimmed through your video.

The points you brought up were accurate.
-Thumbnail is very bad.
-Camera quality isn’t great, I would work on improving lighting and of course getting a better camera. As your entire channel is based around seeing your face, I guarantee a better camera will improve retention.
-Audio seems fine to me, maybe change up the music?
-I like how you got straight into the video, and your energy is great. That is the key to making people stick around.

Keep it up.

-Is this a good audio balance?
I cant say that at any point the audio bothered me so it seemed fine to me.

-Would a video like this but longer still work?
To me this lenght was perfect, if you made it 5 mins or 6 it would still be fine(to me).

-Is this an enjoyable video?
I cant say anything negative atm about this vid (also cause it was a short one).
You put off alot of energy. And i ❤️ kitties!
1 biiiig minus for me was no blue juice 😦 (joke ofc ^^).

  • If at any point I lost you, when was it?
Again it was too short to lose me(positive).

-Is my commentary enough?
Yes.
To the point and calling out bullsh*t. (that girl was an *ss tbh...)

-Is this video unique enough on it's own, or is it too similar to other creators?

Cant comment here sadly. I dont watch many reaction vids.(I saw 3 this year and they were all urs :p)

In general i'd say (from a noobs perspective) not a bad video for that audience.

The voice quality is good. You're talking very confidently and snappy so it keeps my attention easily.
The editing is also good. It's snappy, quick, and doesn't jarringly take me out of the experience.
The cuts and zooms in and out on your face are well done as well, it keeps the pacing and everything flowing well.

I think my bit of critiszm is that the camera angle is a little weird looking down at you opposed to straight on. It makes me feel somewhat like I'm starring down at you from above.

The title is also good! I like it.

So overall, I think it's a really good video. There's not a lot I could say negativley about it from the watch. I enjoyed it, I'd subscribe to watch more, and I WANT to watch more.

Your commentary and energy are great! The facial expressions as your BS-detector goes off are peak.

Definitely the camera/lighting holding you back. Still somewhat cold and overall subject lighting power is on the low side. The light from your monitor is coming through, especially at certain angles and when you get closer to the screen.

More key light and more fill light in warmer color temp, and try to make some distance from that back wall as any further light increases will wash it out.

Hey! Thanks for the feedback!

thank god I’m still working on the thumbnail (you’re right it’s so baddd)

  • as for camera quality, yeah totally agree there too! I know I need to get a new camera to fix that. I’ll start looking into it right now.
  • lighting is another issue I need to work on! I’m so blueeeee lol
  • as for the audio, I’m glad you don’t think there’s an issue with it. I know the audio is a bit off from a number standpoint, but it doesn’t sound so bad to me either. It’s just, still numerically “off”
  • Thanks for the compliments! I’ll def keep going!

Oh wow there’s so many more comments!! I didn’t realize

Give me a moment and I’ll reply!! Thank you guys so much’n

I can try adding a warmer light! I just got one in fact to test out today!

orchid saddle
slow rune
#

I dont think it's per say just lighting thats the issue

#

I think my current camera (iphone camera) is amazing in great lighting outdoors

#

But indoors its terrible, even in studio light

#

Could it be my settings too?

orchid saddle
# slow rune But indoors its terrible, even in studio light

Have you tried actual studio light? You saw how much difference it made with my phone's basic ahh selfie cam when I fired up the extra light.

And even a high end cam will need proper lighting and post to get the most out of it. My decent ish camcorder will still look cheap and crummy if the lighting is wrong, and still needs post when lighting is good.

My office is an old art gallery

#

Sooooo much light

#

OMG

#

But other rooms have light set ups too!

slow rune
#

My problem is mostly "too much light" and "its blue"

with also a few other issues with reflection, shadows, and camera quaility

orchid saddle
slow rune
# orchid saddle

Ok so here's my set up, you''ll probably know exactly what im doing wrong

#

Its very different, so Im probably messing up a ton

#

Oh and the colors of the lights are different and their strengths are different

#

Thats why i got new lights today

#

Back light broke right before this video

#

I just realized I should mention that this video was recorded with out RBG and the back light

#

(trying to remove the blue)

orchid saddle
#

Are you using the default iphone camera app?

slow rune
#

Yep

#

Default, though I text in droid cam before recording (i never records in it, its terrible quaility)

orchid saddle
slow rune
#

Thank you! I'll play around with it!

orchid saddle

Boost fill and key light power so the blue wash of the screen doesn't leak through onto your face.

Make more distance between you and the back wall. Reduce the RGB blue glow, and or move it so it's more on the darker (fill light) side of you in the shot.

Adjust camera exposure down to compensate for brighter overall scene, which will reduce graininess a lot.

#

This is an extreme example but highlights the contrast of what I'm talking about.

slow rune
#

Ohhhhhh

#

I think i get what you mean now

#

That photo isnt bad its actualy really good at explaining it

#

The RBG lights can also change color

orchid saddle
slow rune
#

lol you can see where the back lots is so broken

#

The fill light isnt bright enoough either... am i right or just assuming?

orchid saddle
#

both are too dim!

You are also so close to that back wall and corner that you are basically phased into the wall as far as the camera is concerned.

#

If you turn to the left from POV of camera (your right from your POV), the blue glow from your monitor is noticeable, which means overall subject lighting is too weak compared to nuisance sources.

#

In those example selfies I sent you a while back, you can see how when I turn off my lighting, my monitors put an ugly grey-blue front glow on me.

slow rune
#

OH both?!!

orchid saddle
#

When I had the lights on, I was lit by that color, while the screens were so dim by comparison they didn't affect. Also, the fact I had a few feet behind me meant the background was dimmer and out of focus. It's there but not prominent.

slow rune
#

Oh nooooooo

#

Good news is I've moved my desk a way from the wall

#

It looks..... Horrififc btw

orchid saddle
#

I had 3200 lumens total of fill light and 3500 total of key light from my tripod rig and the adjusted floor lamp combo. And even then more is usable.

Human eye is great at dealing with low light and weird dynamic range. Cameras...not so much.

#

This is a similar line of reasoning where when somebody asks about a microphone upgrade, I first ask if they have put any thought or investment into acoustically treating the space first.

Lots of people film with iPhone. Heck, there are people who do paid interview gigs with an iPhone, some good lights, and a lav mic.

#

I only did my camera upgrade when I did because the old camera was a 720p point and shoot from 2012 that was on its last legs, and one I got from my half brother as a surprise present was a newer version, still in 720p and now lacking all the manual control options that let me push the old one to its limits.

slow rune
#

Hmmm let me play around with the new lights and I’ll send an update

wooden pendant
#

My light setup

slow rune
#

Except the lights are also over and underhead D:

#

Ok I took a quick video with the new lights

#

(Sorry ahead of time, but you cant see my hair. It would be a spoiler so Im wearing a headwrap)

#

I took the same video and I processed it with my "auto lighting correction"

#

Now Im going to try with the new camera app you sent me

#

Normal video ^^

#

Auto adjust ^^

#

I like the pretty color but I’m sending this more to show that you could see the color issues and the shadow issues better ^^

#

This is with the NEW orange lights

#

And setting the RBG to orange

#

My screen is still blue

#

The camera app works, but wow its finicy and paywalled D:

orchid saddle
#

Colors are better, but still (literally) running into the wall

slow rune
#

🥹

#

please dont take my pretty colors away

orchid saddle
#

It would help if I could see what the light sources actually are for the key and fill lights. You can DM me if you're worried about showing a messy desk or something

slow rune
#

Oh sure thing

#

Yes Loki counts as a light

orchid saddle
#

Blessed cat imagery!

So, the daylight from those windows is interfering a lot. I thought the blue wash on the left side was your key light bouncing off the wall before.

slow rune
#

Oh yeah

#

It’s a huge window wall

orchid saddle
#

Once again, the wall on the key light side is too bright, while on the right side of the image, your background fill light is way too weak to compensate.

slow rune
#

Yeah it is really weak, I need

#

More

#

Lightssss

#

I can get more 🥹 I’m waiting on two more lights to come

orchid saddle
#

You need to control the extraneous light sources.

A diffusing curtain panel between you and the windows there. Since that's also causing the major extra shadows on the corner area.

#

To get you brightened up still washes out the wall, whereas that wall needs to be less prominent than you are.

slow rune
#

Oh i see

#

Let me try something really werid one moment

#

It might take a while, but I think I have some boards I can use to make like a box

#

Like a giant box

#

I could put myself into a giant box

orchid saddle
#

Enough to make a frame and drape a neutral colored bedsheet over it to block the direct light from windows from hitting you and what's in frame?

slow rune
#

That’s what I’m thinking

#

A giant card board box

#

Or a lot of little ones to make one big one

#

#

It’s going to be ugly at

#

At

#

Afff

orchid saddle
#

Doesn't even need to have roof over the top of you. Just directly block line of sight from your little set to the windows.

slow rune
#

I’m running out of boxes

shadow crystal
slow rune
#

Im going to ask my partner for more boxes

shadow crystal
#

for you to sit on? that'd raise you up to be equal height with the camera

slow rune
#

My camera is behind my monitor still

#

I did try moving it though in front!

shadow crystal
#

did that work? can you read the monitor still or did that create other problems?

slow rune
#

It was really rough

#

BUT

#

I can make it workk

shadow crystal
#

I'll be excited to see your next video and how you've improved!

slow rune
#

Thank you!! I’m excited to show you what I’ve done now!

#

Hahaha

#

Because I did something CRAZY

#

Hahahahaha 😈

shadow crystal
#

👻 oh no, now I'm curious and can't wait
