So this isn't my thumbnail I've paid someone to make it and if there is any feedback you think I should give him I'd love to hear it. Thanks!

I feel like he did an aamzing job tbh

History of Google Snake

#

then u make make history bigger

#

that's just my tiny nitpick it looks amazing

crude ruin
#

Wait wdym

#

Just have the word history and make it big?

#

Also I think it's obvious but just to make sure this is just a sketch

errant oak
#

then u can make the text bigger, more readable for small screens

crude ruin
#

Ok yeah the text is very easy to change

#

do you think the sketch itself is good or is there anything youd change/add

errant oak
crude ruin
#

Yeah I can send it again when it's finished

#

I feel bad this dude gave me a discount because it's our first time working together I think I'm going to tip him after the order is complete

I'm not sure if it's just me going too nuts with concept ideas or if it's just a good and creative idea, but maybe instead of the apple, the snake could be about to eat the Google's G instead

#

Like this one

#

Otherwise though it looks great

#

At least from what I've seen from my niche (Pokemon), whenever they go for drawn thumbnails, they try to avoid adding text and instead use the drawing itself to express the whole idea

crude ruin
#

Yeah I definitely see what you mean

#

I'm going to A/B test one with the text and one without to see if it makes a difference

#

thanks for the advice!

errant acorn
#

No problem! I'm basically in the process of commissioning someone for a thumbnail for the first time too so I know how it can be.

It looks like a blender 3d model that’s what I taught at first then while you were chatting with mexy I found out it’s drawn

crude ruin
#

having to trust somone youve never talked to before to be able to capture the image you havein your head

waxen compass
#

It’s good

errant acorn
#

Oh that's the thing at least that I've got going for me. I'm commissioning someone that I've been friends with for a few years and he's watched my video, and has my script+title. I've given him free reign for the most part mainly with some pointers for adjustments

waxen compass
#

I actually tought it was in blender so I was about to tell you to add texture to the snake by uv wrapping

errant acorn
#

And he's heard me yap nonstop about my creation process for both the first and 2nd video so he has a bit of an idea of what I was going for, so it's easier for me to trust him

Yeah, I also figured that if I'm getting someone for thumbnails I want someone for the long haul, and realized that he was pretty much everything I was looking for.

errant acorn
#

It probably does

crude ruin
#

Are you working on your next vid?

errant acorn
#

Not literally rn since I'm still at work, but overall I'm in the process of making it, yeah

#

ngl one thing that I realized fairly quickly is that almost any skill can be useful in the video making process even if it isn't something that your videos are about

#

I've used programming for my videos way more than I expected for a gaming+storytelling channel lol

crude ruin
#

thats interesting how?

#

like for mods and such?

errant acorn
#

Yeah, basically for quite a bit of my visuals I've made some stuff in RPG Maker since I didn't really have appropriate b-roll using Pokemon Essentials, or more recently I had to reverse engineer the 3DS Pokemon games' battle videos' data to figure out how to flip the perspectives since I had some matches missing that my friend did in his perspective

#

I could've taken the time to recreate the matches or just used his perspective, but I figured that it would just improve the quality and/or make things faster in the long run if I figured that out early

crude ruin
#

Yeah that's pretty cool tbh

#

I dont think coding would really help my style of video tho

crude ruin
#

Here is the final version

#

Do you think anything needs to be changed?

#

@errant oak

errant acorn

Looks great to me

errant oak
#

other than that looks amazing

Outline the text and it’s going to be perfect
