#Should I rebrand a channel or start a new one?

Well if your going to abandon your 2k sub channel and start a new one you might as well just try and see if your subscribers will watch your new niche even if not all of them will watch it you might get a head start compared to just starting a new channel
Isn't it going to hurt the algorithm a bit? When I make all the videos private and rebrand the channel? Also, will I lose the monetization status if I make all the videos private?
I'm not 100% sure because i've never done but I its prob going to hurt the algorithm a bit becuase it will push your new niche to people who watched your old niche at first and im not sure if they will watch it or not. Also I don't think you'll lose monetization if you private any videos
If you make all your videos private you will lose subscribers, likes, number of views. YouTube will warn you before your press the confirm button just in case you have second thoughts so my guess is you’ll lose monetisation too. As I understand it YouTube treat each video as an independent unit from the others so it should not really matter what your next video is about, it’ll try to push it to the right audience.
Honestly I personally always find it nice when someone changes a niche, if they keep it on the same channel, so if they ever want to say "back when I did XX videos", you can still find said videos and watch. You may even get people asking you to make them again, which just drives up engagement, and gives you potential avenues in the future to branch out.
^^ none of this professional advice, just my opinions
I actually rebranded my channel about 2 months ago. It used to just be a dumping ground for my marketing content. I decided to just become the face of my product and a "personality", rather than keep it a marketing channel. Because of this, last month I made the decision to hide all of my old videos prior to the rebrand resuting in a loss of 70 or so videos and my total view count being slashed in half.
So far the decision hasn't hurt me at all. My older videos were crap anyway. Even though my channel was a rebrand, I kept the same niche, so this instance is a little different I think. Is it possible to slowly evolve out of your niche so that it isn't that noticeable? Or is the change of niche too drastic? Like are you a gaming channel and you want to talk about dogs now?
I don't think changing niche will make any difference. So many channels did and they still have plenty of followers. People may like you for your personality rather than only for what you're presenting in your videos
The change in niche is pretty drastic so there is no way that I can keep my old videos public if I rebrand
I would think having targeted and engaged subscribers is more important, so maybe what you can do is create a new channel, keep your old one for some time, and create a few videos on your old channel telling people why you are changing niches. Then direct them to your new channel to get the targeted subs.
