Let me start by saying 4:45 am is a painful time to have to wake up in the summer as a student
The sun emoji in the window was really funny to me
Like the audio mixing, the music is prevalent where you use it but you can still hear the background audio
Like the music choices too
Like that you said what a phlebotomist was because I had no clue
I usually watch stuff with my volume up pretty high so it wouldn’t be an issue for me personally but rewatching at lower volume your voice was a little too close in volume to the music for the chilling section and was slightly hard to make out but definitely still understandable and it wasn’t an issue at all at my normal volume.
I don’t really watch vlogging stuff but I thought it was a really good video

First thing to note - I liked the editing style of having it type out the text. Editing seems really good in the intro!

However, I found your voice rather quiet. You can probably tackle this by increasing the volume of those segments when editing - or by using subtitles! (which have been shown to increase engagement)

I loved the transition of you when you were doing your face and then in your work outfit.

And I'd still recommend not having a needle so visible in the thumbnail or at least putting something to cover up the needle part as a lot of people have a serious trigger to seeing them and can faint (my brother is one of these people) as it is the most common phobia. It's a bit different if it's in a video, since you can just put a quick trigger warning either at the start of the video, or just before the part there are going to be needles

Alllrighty I watched it all. First video, great! Did you edit vids before?

I can see you know how to tell a story through video, one of the most important aspects in video making. How you edited it, with indeed the txt on screen, the many different shots, it's all very nice.

Now here come just 2 tiny tiny tips:

1 - When talking, just be a bit more energetic, just pretend in your head that you are Jim Carrey, and it will be okay 😛 Nah but just a bit more so your voice will be louder and it will be more engaging for the viewer. It's like when you read a book to a little kid, then some words will also be emphasized, right?

2 - When you got those lovely b-roll shots you do, you can sometimes make it zoom in or out a TINY BIT (not too much, just very very subtle). So for example it's a static shot of you making coffee, then in the edit software you make it zoom from 110% scale to 100% scale. If you sometimes do this it makes it even more engaging (yeah yeah it's all about engagement haha).

At the end you said your like&subscribe thing, very good that you didnt do that in the beginning. And when you got more videos you can direct people to the next video, something like if you wanna know more about this or that, then check out this video right here (and then the video pops up on the end-screen).

Anyways, good work Jason! Music was sometimes cut off, this is what's called a "pattern interruption", and pattern interruptions like that again make sure to keep the viewer engaged (like when you started with breakfast).

The only thing I hate about this video is that you eat oatmeal with water instead of milk! Man man man! Unacceptable😁

Given all the positive feedback, I watched the video 🙂
And for a first video, yeah that's a good one, I don't have a lot of feedback to add to what was said before 😉 liked it overall

  • Regarding your camera presence, I'm not too concerned if this is your first time, you'll find your groove. Release 9 more videos where you try different ways of being a little bit more energetic on camera and you'll eventually find a good balance between how you like to be and how we perceive you as an audience
  • Regarding the Broll, just tell yourself we as audience don't like to look at a static shot for more than 4 seconds, so that's where you can do a tiny zoom, or zoom to focus on a single object, or put a subtitle of what you're thinking of, or more sun emojis flying! I also liked the sun emoji, nice touch
  • The mixing between your voice and ambient background is a bit trickier when you're far from the camera. When you talk in the camera I was fine with it, so I'd actually try to find more ways to speak closer to the microphone, even if it means being close to your cam.
Unfortunately I actually wouldn't try to put a high volume on your vocal if you're far from your phone microphone, the ambient noise was already kinda disturbing for me. A better external microphone (Lavalier or a little more cheap shotgun-like like the VideoMicro) will help but don't buy one until you're sure you'll keep doing this vlog!

Honestly though, my only real advice is, keep going, and after 9 more videos you can take my other advices I wrote here ahah. Good luck ☀️
