Hello Trainer, wondering about the differences between Shadow Pokémon and Purified Pokémon? Here's what I know:

Pokémon GO Ottawa

Shadow and Purified Pokémon

Shadow Pokémon are obtained from Team GO Rocket encounters, and are caught at level 8 (or 13 if weather boosted). Their attacks do 20% more damage, but in exchange they take 20% more damage from attacks.

When a Pokémon is purified, its level is increases to level 25, and it gets up to +2 IV points in each stat. Purified Pokémon cost 10% less stardust and candy to power up, and it costs 20% less to unlock a second charge move.

__Should I Purify?__

Generally - no, you should not purify Pokémon. The 20% damage boost vastly outweighs the +2 IV increase to all stats. The main Pokémon that are worth purifying are Wobbuffet and Sableye for PVP because they benefit from the move Return. Sometimes it is worth it for new players to purify Pokémon to get cheap raid counters, but you should keep high IV shadows to power up later. It's also worth keeping Pokémon that cost 1000 stardust to purify to finish research tasks for cheap. You should never purify Legendary Pokémon.
