#How did you get into K-POP?
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
wow i envy you ! your mom is dope bro
i came across kpop throuh bts's fake love back in 2018. some girls in my school were talking about bts so i gave them a listen and fell in love
BigBang 2ne1 then Yoon Mirae Tiger Jk and Bizzy into the rabbit hole from here 😆
DNA by BTS was in the Youtube Trends and I've watched it. That's how.
I discoverd an anime edit with the sound of Back Door - SKZ (then i checked them out and got into kpop more)
I got into Kpop when I saw Bts blood sweat and tears and went crazy about them. Then when they started making English kinda songs I just unfollowed everything Kpop. Then one day I heard a Shinee song and I realised I heard them long time back and then got into everything SM and txt and skz twice and everything
My friend introduced me to BTS and I was like into them for 3 years.. then I started exploring by myself and discovered other bands
my mom, she introduced me to the NCT shows on YouTube and other variety shows and it kinda took off from there lol
Woahhhhh💗
i honestly don’t know, i just remember just being on YouTube back in like 7th grade and watching the call me baby MV. I also vividly remember being In school and listing to EXO’s overdose, call me baby, growl and their winter album. Those were the only songs I’d listen to. It wasn’t until like a year later in 2017 that I listened to more K-pop and really got into it
So before 2020 I'd seen 1 kpop video and watched 1 kpop performance on live tv. But it still didn't really peak my interest. During 2020, i was looking for new music to listen to and found a viral YouTube video about Wonho. Then he popped up on my instagram. So i listened to his first album and bought a ticket for his 1st online concert. Then after i got into Monsta X, then Got7 and the rest is history. I def gravitate towards groups that have that rnb feel like Got7, Exo and NCT127. Vocals and beats catch my ear first.
I don’t count gangnam style , but after that in 2016 i saw like a Youtubers react to Kpop and that where i got into it first, but only for a short while. I took the deep dive into in 2020.
To start this channel off, I'd love to know how you all got into K-POP!
I discovered it from a tiktok edit of Jonghyun and Taemin from SHINee
i started kpop with wanna one ! my sister was watching the show and apparently i liked wanna one starting from then and got more into kpop after they disband.
I was on a family vacation in VN in 2008 and was browsing the music channels with my sister, we ended up listening to various jpop artists and suju's sorry sorry
I really loved drawing chibi one day I came across a yuta chibi and I fell in love.
suju's sorry sorry's impact LOL
i heard bp‘s ddududdudu somewhere on instagram
Found Shinee in 2008 and never stopped ever since
Jimin in BS&T in 2020 and then the dance practice for Cherry Bomb reeled me in in 2021 and I haven't been able to escape since
all thanks to mr. simple
Idol by BTS randomly popped of when I was listening some music on youtube
i wanted to try a new genre of music since i used to listen to jpop a lot growing up so i asked my friend for recs and she gave me bts songs i only like coffee but didnt really listen to many kpop songs then baby you are by EXO came once on my youtube suggestions page and from there i listened to more exo songs and later went to listen to other kpop artists
bts' i need u being included in a video where they placed different songs over the riverdale s1 veronica & cheryl dance battle scene LMAO
- i actually saw shinee a few years prior as i saw someone writing fanfic abt them on a writing site, but there was no context wiwth it
Was profoundly influenced by my mom, she listened to SHINEE while she was pregnant with me
Have been listening to kpop since i was really young but got into it because of my friends!
I mean I got into it when Twice debuted but I really got into it after listening to D4.
Then she would play SHINEE songs on the way to kindergarten
Omg I can’t believe I’ve finally found more shawols lol
My mom was an sm stan, she open k-pop to night me since primary school

I was introduced to kpop from a twitter mutual that kept posting about EXO on weekly idol
I ignored it for so soooo long until i finally caved in and watched some of the clips she posted. I was a huge one direction stan that basically had a foot out of the door at the time so i ended up jumping ship and stanning EXO instead haha
I go by the name CL of 2NE1
Then fast forward I found wanna one as a safe space (?) I liked them
My friends was into it and during homeschool, me and one of my friends was watching mvs over teams (shared screen lol) and i really fell for the music. esp exos monster heh
i got into kpop by my uncle :) he liked twice and made me listen to their music
Korean exchange students explained about their culture, which included music. And as soon as I got home I checked it out again and fell into the fandom
Seolhyun was showing up all over my pinterest.
nct dream we boom
I got into K-Pop after watching BTS's mv for DNA, I really loved the choreo and the cinematography ^^
And jaemin during that era💔
I watched super junior in our tv when I was in 6th grade. That was 13years ago :)
My mom showed me a bts mic drop stage, fake love dropped a while later and i was hooked
call call call by svt showed up on my youtube recommended back in 2018 and then i immediately watched ring ding dong after
the rest was history
Jaemin and Jeno are the loml
my sister found a song by seventeen and showed it to me and then I just started getting into kpop
my sister was actually into kpop before me, and one day she just decided to show me various music videos from groups she listened to (got7, nct, red velvet etc) and I ended up really liking them! i discovered more groups from then on. plus i also realised i had heard many kpop songs before without actually realising 😭
super junior, wonder girls and SHINEE was part of my childhood haha
Saaaaame 😭🧡
kda, then (g)-idle and so on in 2020
I started Kpop back in like 2011 with Super Junior’s Mr Simple but then I stopped listening to it but then I got back into it in 2018 by listening to Super Junior again and after that started stanning more groups
I didn't know how I knew about NCT, I was watching nct dream on weekly idol and discovered I've seen them everywhere so yea, Jeno was my bias. Then I found superm, and BOOM: Hell
my friend introduced me to nct and i loved their music and talent, learned their names and faces asap, then i got into monsta x and other groups and soloists <3
i heard blackpink's kill this love in 2019 and fell into the kpop hole
I remember forcing myself to memorize NCT's names (there was still 21 members that time)
I treated it like flashcards oml 😭
it was like i think 2013 or something but my mom rlly loves listening to 2ne1 , so like i was VERY interested at their music until i found myself liking kpop yeah
then like i was on youtube that time then i saw a video of pre debut red velvet LMAO i was so interested
In 2015 I saw the Gee MV by Girls Generation at an event and was so captivated by it. I listened to their music a lot after that.
Didn't really branch out until I heard BTS in 2019 and then got into the NCT rabbit hole during Ridin era. My cousin really loved them so she encouraged it, NCT2020 really helped seal the deal
I still have an audio file I sent to a friend trying to remember all their names and it's cringe af, I got most wrong and made up some names 😂😂😂
actually my sister introduce kpop before me and i always heard she listen to these + dance twice, bts and redvelvet. after that i decided to discovered from twitter, ig and many more, i freaking love kpop watching every single mv like golden child, wanna one, epik high, taeyang, bigbang, girl generation and many more
- due to my curiosity i had to check sm’s yt channel LMAAOOAOA and saw nct and shinee there i thought they were really cool
I saw someone post stay gold by bts on their story and I liked it so i got curios who sang it but i've known kpop since nobody by wonder girls
This was back at the end of 2017 when I was watching the old 'fine bros reacts' YouTube channel and I kept rewatching just the reactions to kpop (just the mv parts) and then I went and checked out the songs (Dope and Not today by BTS, Growl by EXO). From then I had a friend get me more into BTS and EXO and here I am! A fully functional multi fan who loves NCT 💚
Long time ago I knew tvxq because of my sis, and during that time I knew suju, snsd, bigbang, 2ne1, wonder girls and more.
When 2013 I watched Heartstrings and fell in love with Jung Yonghwa and CNBLUE, that's all how it started, until now I'm still in love with kpop, they gave me strength ngl
I found exo cus my older cousin was a big fan. listened to call me baby and decided to stan 🥺🥺🥺
I got in through my friends playing kpop songs which one of them was bp playing with fire that got me in to kpop
I remember hearing of bigbang, 2ne1, shinee and exo back in the day, but it didn't really stick yet. I think in 2018-ish I started listening to blackpink, very casually, but still nothing else. Then netflix recommended me hotel del luna, I loved it and started listening to IU, then twice, day6, rediscovered shinee and now I can't get out of this hole
Read a jungkook fanfic on wattpad… 💀
I think I got into K-Pop maybe in 2018 or 19 after listening to BTS's 'Mic Drop'
Although I didn't really like it at first and then a year later I listened to Blackpink's 'Forvever Young' in 2019 and that's when I started liking K-pop
i got a bts mv recommended to me on youtube
I started to watch BTS live performances around their DNA era because my tw tl slowly turned into BTS stans. thats why i was curious. then slowly i started to listen to other kpop groups and the songs that i liked their kareography became my fav songs. the more i watched kareo, the more i got into KPOP. and finally one of my friend was NCT stan and they kinda made me KPOP stan
Knowing Brothers also used to get recommended to me on youtube all the time, that helped wear me down till I decided to check it all out too.
I've known bts for years but since I was stanning another american band back then and also cause I had a racist motive I didn't look into them that much. In August I started my first kdrama bcs of tiktok and tiktok started recommending me more kdramas and some kpop videos (mostly bts) so I decided to learn their names... that's when my obsession with kpop started
Whenever butter by bts came out I decided to watch the mv then I got hooked and kept watching it then I found out about their other songs and at the time I already listened to j-pop so k-pop wasn’t that weird to me I actually really liked it then I got my sister hooked on bts too (because I showed her my time by Jungkook) and now we both stan svt, bts, skz, nct, txt, and Enhypen and we are trying to get into more ggs soon! Probably red velvet and aespa for starters! Also we have 7 albums now 😭
my friend introduced me to BTS first, and another friend introduced me to NCT, and now here we are!
It started when I saw Knowing Bros on Netflix (tho I now watch on a different site) I was hooked on SuJu's Black Suit during their episode. That was when I started my KPop obssession by watching other SuJu content. Most notable of which was the Weekly Idol episode where NCT Dream was guesting during the Ridin promotions. That's how I started stanning NCT. Right now, I mostly stan SuJu, NCT & Seventeen, as well as BTS and Stray Kids to a lesser extent
i got into kpop after watching BTS 'boy with luv' and the rest is history
I got into Kpop in 2012 when SNSD had a comeback with IGAB. My friends and I were so obsessed with the song that we made a group of nine people dressed as our biases and performed SNSD's songs during school events, lol. It was such a fun time. NCT is the first bg I stanned. I got into NCT after seeing RV and other SM artists' cute interactions with them.
I saw this twice mv called "Like Ohh Ahh" on my cousins shared post and after watching the mv, this one girl (momo) caught my eye which made me stan them!
My first ever contact with kpop was through Just Dance with Blackpink's Ddu-Du Ddu-Du... Although I gotta say the moment I became a stan was somewhere in September 2020. I was homesick and decided to check out BTS' Boy With Luv MV (biggest mistake of my life... or is it?) and got obsessed with Tae and his blue hair
Aaah those were particular days
I think it was 2018 I just found a video of bts funny moments and I was like woah they’re funny and then I never looked back
2013 someone sent me the Lucifer MV and it just spiraled from there
wayv youtube videos last year after their kick back comeback and i thought they were really funny
my bestfriend made me listen to it
in 2014 when I started highschool I made an ahgase bestfriend and she made me more into it!! my first ever bias was woohyun from infinite :)
i made an edit to the song monster by exo, and since i was into watching dance videos i got recommended a "best kpop choreos" vid that had monster in it. it led me to search it and watch the dance practice and from then on i got into exo and more of kpop!
omg taste
love woohyun
Back in 2019, my frd who is an army kept showing me bts videos, photos, and songs. I started stanning them after fake love was released.
soobins dolphin fancam changed the trajectory of my entire life!
I watched some of Blackpink's MVs, then I became an army in March 2020 when I watched Black Swan MV and fell in love with RM 😄
i saw coed school and led apple on tv in 2011. that was my first time hearing a song in korean, it got me interested and i decided to check other korean groups. that led me to kpop
I’ve been growing up listening to Kpop ever since I was 4. My family were the ones who introduced me to it and I remember listening to Wonder Girls, Big Bang, and SNSD constantly.
i've never thought that love talk by wayv would change my whole life into k-pop
one of my close friends back in the fifth grade introduced me to bts in 2016 and i remember how i'd keep watching videos of them, so i ended up knowing about other groups too. it mainly spiralled from there and then i became a multi-stan! but the first kpop song i'd ever heard was nobody by wonder girls when i was a child because it became viral in my country. which btw, i only recently found out it was a kpop song like 2 years ago
i got into kpop when its gogo-bts era bc the dance moves are really iconic and its trending everywhere, , , i dug in more informations about bts and their songs and for some time im a really big fan of bts, until one day i found out about exo through "kokobop" mv and that song is the reason why i'm an exo-l until now and i kinda know about other groups aswell. i am still an exo-l now but i started getting into superm and nct like couple of months ago heheh
its been 5 years i think since i got into kpop hehe🫰🏻
I saw teenagers or was it youtubers react to kpop in like 2016
it had exo, snsd, bts and big bang
i got into kpop moreso recently because of a close friend of mine! she showed me a couple of songs from bts and from there, i became really interested so i went into my own research and started watching a bunch of videos of bts. eventually it grew from there as i started discovering other groups like skz, exo, etc., but i finally found nct and they’re my ults now 🫶🫶🫶
My sister introduced me to twice TT around oct 2016, then i started to stan them a long ago while discovering new grps
I got into kpop because of SNSD, #1 girl group in the world who paved the way and slayed the slay! I was a LoL player and a dancer, I wanted to know where Ahri's dance is from, and bam, SONE
but NCT and Seventeen made me stay

i asked one of my close friends who she was posting on insta close friends and she showed me faded in my last song recording behind LOL
i saw a meme about boybands in different countries (the joke being that in france it’s priests) and people in the comments couldn’t agree if the south korean one was shinee or bigbang.
I decided that check their music and that shinee was clearly the superior choice.
My dad went to korea before and he knew psy and hyuna songs so we heard them thinking they are japanese cus he stayed there too and we were like 3-5 year olds sjjsj then in 2016 my sis discovered blackpink somehow and we knew what kpop was, then we saw a music video where it showrd bts dope in around 2017 so we got abit more into them, then until 2018 we went a bit more and more into kpop like knowing few groups songs like twice got7 svt rv mamamoo etc etc, and in 2019 we got more deep into kpop like knew general stuff and when we went to thailand we knew bout chungha (soloist) and since we went to malaysia in the pandemic in 2020 we got more access to internet so now we have like more than general knowledge of kpop
we = me and my sister
It was basically a ride from 2016-2019 to get into kpop properly djjsbfjemsbd
I got into K-Pop after deciding to try it, on Spotify (2018). First song was What is Love from Twice, I thought it was ok-ish. However when I switched to Red Velvet I got hooked in, and they have been my ult since then
I’ve always heard K-pop since I was little, but EXO overdose and EXO in general got me into being a fan K-pop
I got into kpop by 2018 but if i say nct and twice got me into kpop and since i’ve always hear many people talk about it on social media
I got into Kpop because of a rhythm game
got into kpop again and skz got me into kpop but now im focusing on nct
i got into kpop early 2018 after my cousin showed me the members of got7
i got into kpop by hearing boy with luv by bts all the time at lunch during high school
of course, my first kpop song was the OG gangnam style, and i liked a few BP songs as well. First song I liked which actually brought me in was No more dream by BTS. I then got recommended a kpop dance video, heard the first few seconds of the 7th sense and immediately fell in love. t7s still my favorite kpop song and is high up on my favorite of all time list. From there I got recommended all the hoe songs and of course i loved them. By that point i was alredy watching cherryverse and that was when my fate was set in stone.
saw an interview of BP on good morning america trending on youtube. saw them perform and i fell into kpop hole. I didn't know much about any groups so I just listened to kpop radio on pandora. I discovered NCT through that when Cherry Bomb came up again and again.
A friend played blackpink and I didn’t know it was Korean at the time. A few years later another friend introduced me to BTS and Stray Kids and I’ve liked K-pop ever since
I always thought it was fun and very cool but i got to know it mainly bcs I had like 4 people showing me content and videos for like 4 years and it got to a point where I just knew too much about the kpop industry that there was no way out but I also didn't really feel connected to the bands i knew until I saw Superhuman on Goodmorning america and i was so desperate to have that song that I used to refresh everyday the youtube channel waiting for the release and that actually hooked me to kpop and made nct my ults lol
i watched a tiktok edit of jimin and went psycho
Blackpink was trending on twitter because of Coachella in '19.
my best friend has posters al over her room of groups and i found them really attractive so i started learning names with faces starting with bts and then i moved to stray kids and my first stray kids mv i watched was maniac so i havent been into it for a while but i am in love with k-pop
my sister was already into kpop before i was, so it was only natural that i would get exposed to kpop through her playing songs off her playlist, primarily bangtan. by 2017 i already had songs from bts, bigbang and exo (among several others) on my playlist, and then in 2018 i went in for real, having played songs such as love me right (exo), don't wanna cry (svt), shine (ptg) and love scenario (ikon) consistently on repeat. then i saw the mv for the english version of regular, marking the start of my nctzen era, as well as the beginning of me fully zoning in on the industry.
so i first heard about kpop around 2013 and would listen to girls generation, super junior, shinee as well as hyuna and psy as a kid then i slowly stopped. around 2019 i was listening to music on youtube then it autoplayed to dope by bts and i was like “woahh! they’re dancing and singing” since you see western artists don’t do the same thing so i looked up more about them and started getting really into kpop and that’s how i am here now
Because my mom played Psycho by Rv and Feels special by twice
I got into kpop with the Fine Bros react video in 2011! There I found Shinee, Big Bang, and SNSD. The first group I ever followed was Big Bang and was a huge fan at that time. I became an INSPIRIT in 2014, though I took a break from kpop in 2016 (thanks SM for not promoting Ten at that time >:(( )But last year, I got into NCT again and my ult now is YANGYANG!
my dad is a sone and my mom is now an nctzen. end of story.
In 2017 a old school friend of mine showed me a video of BTS Dope and I got intrigued by it and she showed me a few few more of their M/Vs and found out about other groups like BLACKPINK and EXO. And now here I am now still loving Kpop. All because of one video and I’m so glad.
car radio and try to find it and it just randomly show up in my recommend section brrr
I got bored of western music and started serarching for new music and that is how I found kpop ^^
my friend had me watch aoa miniskirt in the 4th grade :') (2014)
way back in 2012, I was already drawn to Korean Drama and OSTs. I searched for this artists which I found out that some of them are part of K-Groups. But still I wasn't that obsessing much to Kpop coz I'm still young back then. Then last 2020, pandemic, I got the chance to check out 127 out of curiosity and ofcourse I wasn't hooked at hearing Kick it at first >,< I saw the interviews/exposures 127 did in US and got to hear Superhuman which made me stan them and the whole brand till this day.
i saw a tiktok of felix's part in god's menu and i died then slowly got into kpop yes
one fine day in 2018, my school had soem talent show and the schools dance tean danced to shine by pentagon and when i said i was obsessed, i was obsessed i'll always watch the mv on yt. so as you know i was watching the shine mv then the next video was fake love by bts and i thought they were fine af so i watched some of theit mvs and boom thats how i got into kpop
It was through NCT 127 try not sing along video during we are superhuman. The first member that I noticed was Johnny because he danced for the entirety of the video
And I was like mmmm he seem like a funny guy and he’s also really handsome
i'm half korean so it's always been there, but i just didn't like it because it was different than what everyone in my school listened to. in the last few years i tried to learn more about my culture and it's gotten me to listen to more kpop and (unfortunately for my wallet) i've become a fan. it reminds me of when my mom and i would watch survival shows or the mama awards together when i was little hehe
it was at the end of 2018 a few months before bts persona came out in 2019, i knew about kpop back in 2017 when bts performed i think at the ama's in 2017 but never fully got into it like that
you shall appreciate that friend
i love her to this day 🙌 LOL
SLAY GURL
My best friend introduced it to me with Lilac by IU, Gods Menu by Stray Kids, 134340 by BTS, and UH OH by (G)I-dle
and then it spiraled from there
i heard bts’ dna and found it pretty good so i dug in more then the rest is history
Yes
purr
I got into kpop because of my sister she was a big fan of exo then i got very interested and started to became a fan
i listened to idol by bts when it first came out and got very interested. i was a bts and blackpink only stan for the longest time until i found out ab other grps and started stanning them. but my current ults are nct bts txt and enhypen
My best friend is Korean. Growing up, his older cousin will bring me album, video of group she likes... I fell in a kpop hole and never found the exit
I came across SHINee Minho in a kdrama and found him extremely funny and charismatic. I looked him up on YouTube for more interview contents but stumbled upon a SHINee vlive funny moments edit. I was in 3+ weeks of quarantine because I had COIVD, so I fell down the rabbit hole and now I am here.
2020 pandemic era 👁👅👁 exo ➡️ superm ↗️ wayv ↘️ nct 127 ➡️ nct u 💚
i was cleaning the house listening to anime openings and then came across kick it nct 127 i checked their other songs and got interested so yhhh
My best friend att(primary-highschool) saw sbspopasia on sunday & showed me Shinee: Lucifer... I dont think they ever expected me to go hard & DEEP
