As for the visual effect of bobio seemingly falling faster, consider that the same time difference (e.g. 2 frames) equates to a larger distance the faster you're going. So as they both fall faster, they separate, even if their time difference remains constant at 2 frames, for instance.

I've thought about something like this many times, it's easy to do (as well as having a subscription feature of sorts, that notifies you of certain mapping/highscoring events). One reason I didn't do it is that some people liked being sneaky with their scores, but I guess we could like do a poll or something on whether privacy or reports are preferred.

Well, considering there are thousands of levels, it is different in the sense that new scores can go unnoticed basically forever if not mentioned. And even if a player is thinking about mentioning it, he probably wouldn't until the submitted run is satisfactory. Thus why I can understand some feeling "stalked" by the feature.

Sure, it would definitely be an optional subscription. There are two approaches being discussed here:

A command you can issue, whether on DMs or in public, that produces a report of the latest scores, perhaps filtering by mappack, mode (hs / sr) or rank, if so desired (like we had in the much missed Infunity).
The option to subscribe to certain events and get notified for them (e.g. losing a 0th or a top20).

I think they're both interesting and, of course, not incompatible. If it were solely up to me, I probably would've implemented it long ago. I only hesitated because of the aforementioned reluctancies, but I guess I can go ahead and experiment with it.

Even if novel for some people, I think its a good feature and easy to get used to. Like I said, we had super detailed reports for N via Infunity and we all collectively thought it was a dope feature.
