#Cities of Sigmar

Cos is the best, because its just the common man fighting.
It takes so much courage to do so.
I like black powder
Yes, the true DAKKA.
Hello knockoff Empire of Man
And have them go where?
Honestly, we do need some mutts in the faction.
Human/dwarf, human/elf, dwarf/elf units would be great.
This is supposed to be a faction of unity after all.
Well the talk on the grapevine is that the units would be retired or swapped to Old world...
I love them and only want to play CoS because of the possibility to play Dwarves
And I'd love to see them get new units 🙂
little question. are any of the Mega gargant RoRs used in CoS?
oh wait i see rn they can use only 1 i believe
the kraken eater it seems
If they do get removed, we are going to need more human units to replace them.
Because we would be losing 2/3rds of the faction.
If the steam tanks also go, I hope the get replaced with something else.
I love the steam tanks as well ! I don't want them to go 🙂
Ideally they would just refresh the sculpts
But keep the flavor
I was thibking about maybe mini tanks. You can move them around as you would a tank but you can use a command point to freeze them in place giving them a super fortified. Downside is that they cannot move for the rest of the game.
sounds interesting. kinda reminds me of an Hussite War Wagon lol
If we do loose elves and dwarves, I want the faction turn into the black powder faction.
I am talking Powder Mages, fire lances, and repeater pistols.
lore of gunpowder
but yeah i would welcome that
also on the Steam Tank front. there is the small chance they will swap it with the in the Lore mentioned Cogfort, which seem to be bigger steam tanks
We add a new keyword "black powder" to some weapons. A Powder Mage can cast a spell that targets a unit with that keyword and they can use that weapon or action.
Fire lances replace hammers and executioners in terms of power.
I’m thinking of including something similar to cormorant fishing in my city of sigmar, any suggestions for bits that look kinda like ducks?
How big can they be, and do you mind of its not offical?
Because you can get small ducks from kids toys
You could also look at train hobby stores.
i do not mind if they arent official lol
oooo
Yeah, they have a lot of micro things.
These lil guys would work too tbh
I think there’s 2 of them?
Use blue stuff and green stuff them and try to repose them a bit
We deserve more artillery pieces
realize something fundimentally wrong with my city
welp time for a rewrite
i wrote it too similar to misthaven
i drifted away form the original concept too much
so now im gonna just put the whoel city underwater and combine it with the idoneth city
im going to shift from boats to scuba diving
now that is an change of scenery. could see that being very interesting
and im gonna just steal from morrowind and have poeple live in hollowed out giant crabs instead of ship wrecks
then the isopod metal will have a use, maybe instead of being metal that pukes ghur magic, it was forged by idoneth to allow the citizens to fight underwater better
interesting idea. pray tell how do your citizenz breath down there? dont mean to pop the idea just curious
instead of being tricked into giving up their souls its seen as like, a symbiotic relationship, your dead get to be reborn as elves instead of being sent to nagash
aether sea
its a thing idoneth do, its jsut water you can breathe
deals involving safety from nagash are always interesting ones
maybe humans treat the idoenth that used their family's soul as apart of the family
so like, the guy that used grandpa soul is now fish uncle
some interesting dynamics can be made with that
definetly have struck gold with that
oh that is a portal directly to shyish
its used by the ossiarch
thats why there is a spine bridge
the porblem is it might get crushed, ghur has been moving significantly faster than usual
ever since the age of beasts i assume?
yeah i read on that. made me hesitant to put my cos city, which is an mountain city in that realm
just some mountains pretty much. city is actually pretty industrialized, given it was an duardin kingdom before it allowed the weakend dawnbringer host in, which in time turned it into an alliance of dwarfs and humans
what does your city export?
prolly minerals. had the idea that they had quite the big mining company in it, where most dwarfs work at.
that would be the hard part. perhaps aqshy would fit better?
westrern side atleast, given what the east is going through
ooo true
yeah once you get clsoer to the center its much more reasonably tempered
also i dont think ghur has natural metals?
i might be wrong tho
i know ghyran doenst have metal
it doesnt?
it might now? im not 100% certain i havent checked in a while
ghyran doenst have metal though
it only has stone
metal is either imported from aqshy or is ironbark
tho it is supposed to be the most "primal" realm, so i could imagine that they wouldnt place ore there
never mind it has iron
but it spikes up from the ground
whoops
dyslexia moment my abd
it doenst
ah good to know
dont worry
In the more civilized places, the people of Ghur tend to use whatever materials that are at hand for their settlements. Which usually are the ancient bones of long-dead titanic creatures. Their great cities are composed of stone and ivory with wall studded with giant iron spikes, to deter some monsters from attacking the settlement. Those creatures that persist in their attack are usually skewered on the spikes and are harvested for meat and materials
why iron?
it might be a reference im not getting
could be
also on the note of the city placement. i found an potential place in aqshy. it is between hammerhal and hallowheart. an mountain range to be exact. trying to find its name rn
oo
note yo ucan just make up a place. were only looking at a part of the relam
theres cities of flying astroids and moons and stuff
true that would be the next option if nothing comes out of it
if you wanna make up your own material to mine you coudl get away with it
easily
especially if its in your own
spot
god i only have the german name. seems to be called "sorrow hills"
ah its called sorrow peaks
oh god the space is perfect. there doesnt seem to be much and i can make up the fact that the city profits from the trade with the other big sigmarite cities
due to selling minerals and firearms
and generally due to traders passing by
ooo
also
i figured out why ghur has iron
because blood has iron in it
its literally the blood of the islands
that is smart
yeah liek 3 of myfriends pointed it out and i feel like a dumbass lol
welp done with hw today, time to redesign my city symbol
I am going with a roaming band of mercs. Kind of going with a Rifle Jacks theme
oooo! whats rifle jacks?
Mercenaries from a book series "gods of blood and powder"
This even opens me up for Lance cavalry. Because they could have grouped up with the Mad Lancers.
oooo
idk fi my new city of sigmar lore is good or too much lol
I tried my hand at a Knight of Morr for my Freeguild Cavaliers in my Lethis themed army.
He's the sole survivor of his unit, sucked into the warp during the End Times, and spat out in Shyish during the Age of Sigmar.
This is my 6th painted mini ever, would love some feedback.
Saw a really good deal today and thought I'd share if anyone is interested. 2023 army box (MSRP around $200) for $120 at Games of Berkeley in Berkeley, CA. Hope it finds a good home!
every other kit was pretty much MSRP so I was surprised at the steep discount
Hey ! What might be good to add here?
I’ve got a warforger and a set of 20 steelhelms as well as the above
10 steelhelms*
I’m thinking to round it out I might add an RoR but not sure which
I could go privateers but then I can’t take the ghyran cavaliers which seem significantly more consistent
So then I can go either the exiles or flamebearers, or the gargant
scourge of gyhran pontifex is OP at the moment
How does this list look ?

So, I’m new to AoS and decided to start a Cities of Sigmar army… am I wrong to believe that the battle priest model is now useless in a Steelhelms unit? Can we expect it to be relevant again in the futur battletome?
Looks strong, just be aware that duardin and aelves might not be around later this edition
Any cities players know if painting is difficult, I’m an average painter and like the models but want something I can paint to a reasonable tabletop standard
They’re small and have lots of details and you’re typically running like 30-40 10 man troops in whatever list you put together
I find them infantry to be pretty fast to paint up personally though to battle ready standard, I just lay down a zenithal in my main cloth color, lay down some metallics, then pick out some details and skin and stuff and call it a day
I’d say it’s pretty average in terms of details and stuff, they hold contrast really well too imo
If u struggle with painting fatigue I find them very helpful in that regard because each model tends to be pretty unique
Even between steelhelms there’s a lot of faces and bits to mix up between them
Definitely a good bit more effort compared to something like stormcast or seraphon though if ur coming off those less bit heavy armies
Will I get overwhelmed with the amount of colours needed for a model? Excluding like centrepiece models I mean like cav/infantry
My other one on my mind was seraphim which will be significantly easier
It’s like
A leather, a skin, a cloth, a metal
And then if ur gonna highlight or shade each one up to u
Idk my seraphon I use like 8 colors I’ll probably use about the same for cities
Anyone have some good halfling models ?
Struggling to find a decently priced wildercorps and like the idea of doing a halfling unit with like corgis or something haha
have you looked at the 40k killteam or the bloodbowl team?
Any idea what to use my last points on?

idk if the second command is worth
ogor is super good with the cannons especially if ur running 3
also feel like 2 units of reinforced horses is pretty overkill
I've mowed through basically anything with 1, the marshall, and tahlia
def think some screens would be useful
steels make good screens and anvils with the ward
Like this? Still have some points left

I'd run two units of steelhelm, better split but yeah that looks interesting to me
that way u can screen off ur cannons and zenestra, if they break through u can port them around, and have a hammer in the cav units
New player here so just want to be sure I understand correctly. Regarding the Fusil-Major Marked Targets ability, does it really benefits all the attack made against the target for the rest of the turn, including melee attacks?
For exemple, let’s say I mark a target with the Fusil-Major, then my Cavalier-Marshal could shoot the target with +1 to hit to both attack, then charge the same target and attack in melee getting +1 to hit with all 5 attacks. Warhorse attacks would not benefit from it though since it’s a companion attack. Am I correct?
yeah exactly
what makes the unit so gross
gets a shot off on anything within 24" and then makes it an easy kill for rest of turn
really really good for using on an enemy monster hero and then ramming ur horses into it
Nice! Sounds like a unit that I could use 2 of in my army!
like to go for a big alpha strike
+1 to hit against something with hulk, +1 attacks on the horses for the order during charge
draw steel with the cav marshal for another +1 attack on the horses
then tahlia gives +1 to wound
giving them 50 2+ 3+ rend 1 damage 2 attacks lol
on top of being sticky with 3+ saves and tahlia's ward 5+
what's cool is then on the following turn, if u succeed the red work, you can then give them strike first to take care of anything they couldn't kill or charged into them
with the cav marsh
Taking notes!
hey how is the living city holding up lore wise in teh SoG
I'm curious, what's the general opinion on Freeguild Fusiliers?
When I look at lists that I find online I rarely see them used. They look nice on paper but, is there something that I'm missing?
Does anybody know if the Empire/Reiksguard Knights are the same size as Freeguild Cavaliers knights? I would like to use the Empire Knights' heads on the Cavaliers, but I worry the riders might be smaller.
hey guys my store has some cities of sigmar boxes for sale at a discount for black friday weekend. I was thinking about getting them to start into cities but im not sure are they a good starting point?
from what i remember its the founding foray box and the cities of sigmar box with the codex ( i think its the previous edition army box)
Bit late, but while the CoS army set might be out of date, the contents of that box will pair with the Founding Foray battleforce box exceptionally well.
Friends, hello I was wondering if the founding foray pack is worth it if i can pick it up for less than 130 bucks
CoS will be the 7th army I will be assembling and i also wanted some guides and tips 🙂
Yes, it's worth it. It's a great starting point for Cities since it contains lot of good units. Command Corps is very good and you can't have enough cavalry (unless you're like me and don't want to paint more)
Hello friend, i just bought it i have it with me here right now what else would you recomend i get ?
I'm only playing casual so take my advice with a grain of salt. I would recommand getting the first Spearhead with it to double on Cavalry, get some steelhelms and a second cannon. Callis And Toll should be a great addition too, especially since it's a Regiment of Renown so can be use outside of Cities too.
i also play casual 🙂 may i please know the name of the spearhead please ?
that would be this one
This spearhead and Founding Foray is exactly how I started collecting Cities.
οοh fun ! alright friend thank you how many points is that approx ?
also what leader is better ?
If I’m not mistaken, those two boxes together currently give you 1260pts.
As for the leader, from a casual player to another, I would say the one you prefer 😅
Im asking because there are like 2 leaders that are unique i guess ?
a lady on a gryphon and an old lady in a carriage ?
If you can find the previous Cities of Sigmar spearhead, the one with a Cavalier marshal in it, its a good pair for the founding foray box.
Ah, red castle linked a picture of it.
By gryphon I guess you mean Tahlia on her manticore. If so, that’s the leader I plan to use… don’t know if she’s competitive or not though
The character is really cool so that’s enough reason for me
Another good box to add to founding foray battleforce is the current fusil-platoon spearhead
Because you can use some wildercorps hunters, and may want to reinforce the fusiliers or do a second small unit.
There is no cannon in the fusil-platoon. There is a fusilier unit, a wildercorps unit, an alchemist and a fusilier-major on ogor.
Still a good suggestion I think, but I would say the first spearhead is a better pair between the two
Absolutely
However just in case it cannot be found, fusil platoon is an alright addition.
Yeah, I was mostly correcting the information, before you edited your message, saying that there is a cannon in the second spearhead.
Its likely GW online only.
Its in TOW so likely going to legends btw
TOW ?
Hi guys, i’m completely brand new to AoS in general and was wondering if yall have any recommendations for cities of sigmar prints
wait so i can get it from the old world ?
Yea
Thats a long time of.painting
Fun time !
I finally realized what I was doing wrong with my DOK army
An issue of the skill variety?
very much so
Nice! Very close to what I have, except that instrad of a third Fusilier unit I have a second Steelhelm one. Finished painting the Cavalier Spearhead, currently painting the Battleforce then nex move on to the second spearhead... Like Joppen said, a long time of painting ahaha
im putting in another order about 400 bucks for 3 steel helms pontifex , tahlia , freeguild cavaliers and canon
is 2 canons enough or should i run another 1
I believe 2 should be fine, unless you plan to play competitively in the near future. One of the reason competitive players run 3 is to benefit the most out of Veteran Canoneers, but it's a SoG battle formation so won't be effective in about 6 months. I would wait until then to see what's next before over commiting into a unit... and if you are patient enough like me, wait until the new battletome to see how things shake up.
No I might do that with chaos dwarfs. I already have 4 canons 2 for infantry and cav 2 for monsters
But again, take my opinion with a grain of salt. I don't play competitively (did in other games but never warhammer) and have yet to play with my Cities units since I'm still in the process of painting them. I only go with what I read and saw online.
I just did some math . Based on all the content inside the boxes its 1860 points. If I drop the 2nd fusil major on ogor. I drop to 1710 and if i add 280 points i can add tahlia vedra reaching to a whopping 1990 points
i believe its very solid
Certainly sounds like it
I am taking this to an event this month. Its really just more of an experiment but....well....it will be an interesting time.

holy based
I was thinking of a list please share with me your thoughts and opinions.
3 Drops
Drop 1
Tahlia verda
X4 steelhelms
Drop 2
Fusil major on ogor hulk
x3 ironweld canons
Drop 3
Freeguild cavalier marshal
x4 free guild cavaliers
for 2k game
current points are 1830/2000 what else would you add ?
also would you reinforce the steelhelms and the cavalry or not ?
I think that steelhelms would be a so and so
i also think that cav would be more effecient if it was reinforced
Is it better to give the Tome to someone with good mobility or something that you can keep out of harm ?
I was t hinking of giving the tome to the ironweld canon
i’m gonna be so real with you rn i have never played a single game of AoS and i don’t even know the core rules
Ayyyyy its all good
Barely have enough space for them where am I gonna fit Zenestra 🤔
1000 times yes!
The newest war engine takes its place amongst the Cities of Sigmar. It inspires a marching song dedicated to its brutal effectiveness on the battlefield. The courage of its allies swells when it takes the field, and they join in glorious chorus.
Verse 1
Oh we marched throughout the mortal realms with naught but blade and will,
Till the forge-lo...
What are our thoughts on the battlescroll update? Yay for points drops to SoG cav. BOO for another points increase to command corps - someone at GW really does not enjoy playing against these guys.
My thought is that they’re only temporary since Cities will soon have a new battletome.
But overall, unless you want to spam Command Corps, it looks nice. Drop to Cavalry compensate for the raise of Command Corps, drop of Steelhelm, Fusiliers and Wildercorps is nice too, as is the drop for Tahlia.
I don’t think it will bring Cities to the top, but should help have fun until the battletome come out.
This seems like a very good analysis. Kind of a bandaid to hold is over until the new battletome.
That said: I do have an event this month and lists are due to be locked today using new points. Ive gained a free 50 points and dont know how to fill it.

Any thoughts
Right now my thoughts are replacing C&T + Spare 50 points with a second command corps and a battlemage. It definitely does secure my front line, but the loss of C&T seems a bitter pill to swallow.
Ive also toyed with the thought of adding in a griffon
I saw tbat the fusil corps spearhead got a buff too. But i cant see how changed from before only the new version. When i was looking into the faction i heard it was not a very good spearhead but i was wondering if anyone here felt differently now? Eyeing up the faction like any rational person after that adepticon reveal haha
Hahaha
Yeah i think im gonna pull the trigger, jist wanted to know whether or not the spearhead was looking a lil nicer after the recent changes. Heard it was bus wanted to hear from some actual cities players. Ik battletome soon and its still a good discount tho
Id always been iffy on cities but the new slate of releases seemed to be just what they needed to be a more well rounded keyword visually(at least for me !).
But frankly i think the amount of bad aos models can be counted on one hand damn near all factions appeal to me
