#Syringe Gun reticle is inaccurate

As a massive Syringe Gun fan, I have a suggestion for a small fix to the weapon to address an issue that greatly annoys me, as a medic main.

The Syringe gun shoots syringes out quickly with a random spread at a slow speed and with a ton of gravity. It is inherently a very difficult weapon to use and master, since it was designed to be, to discourage the Medic from actively fighting. However, as you can see in this video, the Syringes actually do not come out where your reticle says they should at all. They come from directly under it, then fall quickly due to extreme projectile gravity. The Syringes never go where your reticle is. They will always go under it, no matter the range.

At longer ranges, this is completely reasonable and expected behavior, it is supposed to be a bad weapon after all. But, I think making the syringes actually fire from where the reticle is would be an amazing quality of life / minor buff to the weapon. Specifically, I am not suggesting the weapon be directly buffed or anything, I just want the reticle to not confuse any players who use it. Players should obviously still need to lead their shots, account for gravity and whatnot, but that becomes more difficult than it should be because the reticle does not accurately display where your shots come from.

Yes, this would make the weapon differ significantly from live tf2, but in my opinion, it would be a very reasonable change to make, especially with this being the only Medic primary available. I don't wish for this to be interpreted as a weapon rebalance suggestion, I just want the reticle to be more reliable so that a medic player who truly wants to play optimally will not be forced to download external software or modify their monitor to have an accurate reticle to make up for this.

I think that's so the syringes line up with the syringe gun's model and actually come out of it correctly

#

Similar to how weapons shoot a bit to the right

Thats definitely why it behaves this way, but it can cause confusion for the player. In my opinion, the visual accuracy is not as important as the shots going where the reticle says they will. Furthermore, there are many different things they could do to fix this issue without ruining the visual accuracy

I hear you. We need to rework the mine layer megabastard

tf2c_centerfire_preference 1
This makes projectiles fire from the center.

Can you use this command on servers? I'm uninformed

hushed mason
#

It's a personal setting

remote ivy
#

How do you enable this? Do you need to use the console once, is it in the settings menu, or would you need to enable it at the start of every match? I had no idea this existed

hushed mason

You run the command once in the console and it should stay like that unless you revert it to 0

It doesn't work if you're connected to a server and playing, must either be on spectator or be disconnected

I see, i'll check this out next time i'm on. Thank you for this. Does this command also exist in live tf2?

No, it has the tf2c prefix so it's exclusive to here.

Thats... Really interesting, actually. Another reason for me to love tf2c more than i already do

most projectiles don’t fire from center as far as I know

#

rockets and pipes most prominently fire up and towards your dominant hand

remote ivy
#

Yeah, i checked every projectile weapon after i made this post because i thought it was weird and i could be wrong

#

Something worth mentioning though is that, to my knowledge, every projectile in the game excluding the brick is an explosion, and thus requires less accuracy from the player than the Syringe gun does

#

Mainly though, its just fuckin crazy that the syringes will never be where your reticle is. Thats very unintuitive

coil gun, arrow, brick, flare, thrown sandvich, rejuv orbs, tranq dart

#

pipes require a lot of accuracy if you want to do 100 damage

#

but yeah, i think most, if not all, projectiles don’t fire from your crosshair

it’s tied to wether or not you’re right-handed or left-handed

I have picked up demo recently and i love flicking and direct impacting people, its so much fun

outer eagle
#

i’ve known of the centerfire command in classic but i didn’t notice a different so i turned it off

#

this post makes me curious about looking at where every projectile actually fires from in reference to the crosshair

remote ivy
#

Mhm, i think its pretty interesting imo

remote ivy
#

i think this warrants a fix imo, or add the ability to further customize our crosshairs in game, like moving them around, or have gun specific crosshair settings

#

and even then, this still hurts new players who wouldnt know about the hypothetical new crosshair customization
