Oh also yes, regular shot has 8 ammo and thermite has 8 ammo. Was thinking when switching it rotates the ammo indicator in the ui kinda.
Basically the flare gun and a shotgun with a single bullet rolled into one? Kind of makes both weapons redundant by comparison
also the flare gun part as I understand is just a better flare gun
Regular fire is just a flare and the thermite fire is basically 10 burning pellets in a shotgun pattern. It's supposed to be a weird middle ground between the flare gun and shotgun.
when this exists what would be the use case for either of the other weapons
Stock shotgun dosn't have a limited range and has way more ammo and dosn't require after burn for full damage. Stock flare has higher burst damage.
well, with the x2 damage buff on top of minicrits on burning players I'm not sure you're correct about flares having higher burst damage
Flare does 90 on crit + 60 in afterburn.
but you can just blast them with the secondary ammo and deal a fuckton of damage

Thermite shot does 81 on mini crit + 30 on afterburn, but suffers from a limited range. Regular shot does 40 on minicrit but 60 with afterburn.
I could cut afterburn duration fully on both shots.
that's not going to solve the problem that this weapon does both jobs of the shotgun and flare gun hardly less effectively, so this would be chosen for the versatility alone
And if you tweak the numbers to make them just weaker, then there would be no point in equipping it, since it would just be a half-assed version of both weapons
it's not cool to make a weapon which just overlaps with already existing weapons, since they either power creep the existing options they're trying to cover or end up weaker with no defined niche
Thermite shot could be a charge thing then from dealing damage?
Making a weapon that is just a tuned down mush of 2 other weapons the result is just going to be uninteresting or barely change any gameplay aspects

If the part that deals damage is a shotgun for which you already have the flamethrower to ignite
Potential Revamp:
+/-Fires a thermite shot in a wide fan like pattern
+Holding fire button charges the shot increasing damage and decreases spread, also increases projectile distance(Max base damage of 90, min of 30)
+Inflicts residue effect: Causes targets for a short period to take mini crits from flame throwers(Residue lasts 8 seconds but can only minicrit for 3 seconds before diminishing)
-50% less after burn duration
-50% less ammo
Good?
