#Engineer Secondary: Targeting Pistol

The only time target priority matters is if an uber eats up your sentrys attention but at that point your sentry is just dead as it has less health anyways
Why do so many people make a weapon with that and act like that is a strong upside
my thoughts on making it worthwhile to use would be to make it track and shoot marks from any range, and to have it work on disguised (but not cloaked) spies. Another way it could suck less is if it gains a firerate or damage buff when targeting a marked player, but that might be too good.
Well if you put your sentry in a spot where it can make use of infinite range then it's just gonna get spammed down in an instant
As you need your pistol out to make the sentry target so you can't heal
maybe it could remove the targeting time on marked enemies instead?
like it can instantly shoot as soon as they enter los
there's something in the idea of "buff sentry by choosing target", but it'll take some workshopping
don't want it to be too crazy since it also gives you more metal
i thought it'd help encourage a more defensive playstyle while compensating for the hp debuff
Or you remove both???
So you keep the sentry as a sentry
Why do you give it a hp nerf just to give it a random upside
ehhh, i could but then the gun feels kinda empty, like a dollar store wrangler. what would you suggest to make it feel more rounded out?
Give the engie a reason to use the gimmick. Reward him for killing a targeted enemy with his sentry
maybe i should push the tracker thing onto a shotgun designed after the rescue ranger, shooting little tracker pods n stuff, then i could justify some stronger buffs to him and his gun on kill
actually might be kinda cool
i could focus this pistol on the metal buffs while giving it some other gimmick, like giving your buildings passive bonuses or smth when you shoot them
overheal/recharge time maybe?
