I have been playing spy for 200hours Total playtime even before steam release and I still think Stock Revolver still out shines Post Tranq for its damage, hitscan and range. Revolver can speed kill buildings while sapped, reliably finish off the wounded, safe range to chip damage, burst enemy players close up, destroy Demoman's stickies and etc.

The Tranquilizer doesn't have much benefits to what the revolver gives. Its stealth quality is lacking but just draws more alert to spy just so he could face stab a player. It alerts people before the stab. The more experienced players you face the Traq becomes less beneficial. Its hard to hit players with projectile with slow reload, tranq darts can be evaded can leave you defenseless, tranqed medic can just knockback serf away from you, Medic can cut duration effect on tranqed allies, tranqed enemy just remove the effect thx to close by health packs, overhealed light classes cannot get oneshot stab, more of a hassle when trying to deal behind enemy lines. Its only extension is taking out isolated player and more useful at fighting spys thx for its predictable patterns, when tranq cant retaliate when cloaking and even still have the effect shown while invisible. Going behind enemy back lines to kill high value players and destroying buildings makes you feel like its to forgo the tranq from its unnecessary participation.

Buffed Tranquilizer

Make tranquilized enemies do not scream in pain or on death. A way to catch players off guard. Maybe it could even remove the kill feed notification if you hit someone with a max-duration dart? It would be interesting if we allow it to be fired while stay disguised as well. The visual colorblind effect already makes it obvious to the player that there is a spy. And this would also play nicely with the crit on melee hit. Making it easier to kill targets when you hit them, at the cost of making them super paranoid. Overall I think it wouldn't hurt to try this change.

Big agree on the no-death-scream and no-feed-notification things, not sure about being able to fire while disguised scientist_think

not sure i agree with buffing it, but it is weaker than a revolver.

Would like to test your idea of being able to fire this while disguised to see how it plays out!
On paper, it sounds like a really strong buff which makes the Tranq lean even further into its niche of single-target elimination.

Would need to play with it to see if it's balanced and fun to fight against. I could see this being frustrating to deal with as an engineer - if you see an obvious spy near you and your sentry, the spy basically gets multiple attempts to Tranq you without fear of dropping his disguise to the sentry

I very much like the idea to "Make tranquilized enemies do not scream in pain or on death", but the other changes I dont agree with.

For me, I see this as it adds Utility to make it reliable, and satisfaction for using the gun leaning into its manipulative nature enhances the Spy's resilience and survivability to take advantage of one common source property to make the class more agile and tricky to chase and aim at to better reward Spies for engaging Tranq and Shanks in the first place, and the Stealth area focuses on making Tranq as inconspicuous as possible, with it muting the target almost completely on hit and then doing away with the indicators of attack for the enemy, and dabbling in the concept of Support Spy to aid your allies against grouped enemies in the back line doing effective work from the shadows.

What makes spy Tranquilizer dart projectile op as sniper hitscan headshot? Its not a diamondback thx to its stored crit shots with no damage falloff

I can understand about snipers sniping but spys sniping dood? Theres nothing I add about making the Tranquilizer a sniper rifle. Even if you get Tranq from far range you can wait the duration off quicker cuz the length of time tranquilized decreases with distance, down to 1.5 seconds at long range, or get healed by medic or Healthpack faster.

So how else can spy kill the scout to trade off a revolver? Its a close range weapon synergizing with the knife. The main bulk of problems with the Post Tranquilizer comes from tougher classes and better players easily shutting it down. You are esentually playing it on hard mode by only reserving to loud telegraphed melee

I agree. Revolver is much more reliable and with good aim is actually strong. Tranq needs a buff.

maybe instead of being completely able to shoot while disguised it only undisguises you when you hit a shot

also i do think that the tranq gun should automatically reload if you switched items like the flare gun does (correct me if im wrong but the tranq gun doesnt reload itself when holstered unlike flare gun as i remember)
