#Artillery Sentry

its artillery, it shoots far away targets but ig maybe it could have beehive shells lol
Just play soldier with the RPG 🤔
I see people doing artillery esc shenanigans with the RPG all the time lol
don't see how this would be usefull
it would probably just be annoying
maybe loaded manually?
Sentry is supposed to be entry denial, this would just be like difficult-to-counter spam from across the map
its meant to be a priority target that the engineers team has to help defend to keep it up
but it would be powerful for stuff like control point
and maybe it would have to be manually controlled but idk, i just submit concepts not fully fleshed out ideas
better question is how would this even work
manual controlled maybe can be loading the shell, aiming like a sniper and fire?
in terms of targetting and stuff
it would fire in an arc and be powerful from range but almost useless if you get close, as for targeting it would i guess have a targeting camera(not actual camera but whatever the regular sentry uses to target) in the sky and shoot at exposed targets
would it have different levels or just one?
skyboxes roofs etc?
yeah if the target is out in the open, not under any cover
and it would deal massive damage but be countered by cover
yea but in tf2 maps skys are just a wall
so unless the projectile barely arcs i don't see how this works
not to metion the map dependency
would be through the roof
most of my ideas are situational as compared to the all rounded regular sentry
situational but powerful
maybe have a animation of it firing and then a circle on where it hits?
situational doesn't mean it should be unusable on 50% of maps
yeah that could work, like have it fire but nothing actually comes out of the sentry and instead comes down from the skybox
well it would look dumb with the marking on the floor
concidering there is nothing like it anywhere else
it would feel out of place
I`ts so good i need this right now
I think with how tf2 maps are, this isn't super viable
TF2 maps tend to be... not very open, so I'm not sure if there'd be very many maps (outside of maybe payload maps with long straight sections of track, which isn't too uncommon) where an artillery sentry would be warranted
A howitzer sentry that can manually target anywhere with direct line of sight to the sky (i.e. anywhere below a solid wall made out of sky material), though, would be an interesting tradeoff — there's defs some maps where there's far too much indoor cover for it to be viable (and on cp_junction it just wouldn't work at all), but I think it would have enough usability to be a fine situational sidegrade, much like the Jump Pad is to the Teleporter
yeah thats the idea, powerful but situational side grade
