"yeah bro just add this weapon i know nothing about and cant give you anything about, it would be a great weapon idea"

#

can we ban people from making weapon ideas that arent ideas at all

#

why would tf2 have a paintball rifle

#

let alone tf2c

feral sleet
#

it's weapon ideas... the tf2c devs are not gonna add any weapons from here

novel fiber
#

do people know what the word "Idea" even means????

jovial summit
#

"Yeah uhh, just add this gun, think of the stats and how it works yourself lol" is not an idea

I am surprised the paint ball gun idea was never implemented since the existence of the spy class.

A weapon that paints your target as a member of the opposite team.

This will caused the target to suffer from friendly fire.

Be denied benefits by medic and engineer’s buildings.

Be targeted by allied sentry guns.

I could imagine both the spy and engineer class using this weapon type.

novel fiber
#

That is the worst idea i have ever heard

sharp dirge
#

Not friendly fire tho, that seems like a bit much

#

It’d be a lot more niche but you’d be able to at least compete with Sentry nests more

the easter egg weapons are all pretty cool, but i think they're a bit too flawed to work without any adjustments

Target Painter was supposed to be a medic medigun replacement

#

A sniper rifle to medic, acting like Ana's bionic rifle from Overwatch

#

Very similar mechanically, even uber worked like it does in OW

#

It was discarded since it's evolution had made it through, the Rejuvinator

solar remnant
# sharp dirge On the contrary, just making it so that friendly turrets would target you would ...

I suggested friendly fire due to the idea of the spy being the most handicapped and hardest to play due to the lack of that feature shown in the meet the spy trailer.

Sentry gun targeting the wrong person is a worthwhile idea to keep.

The paint gun shouldn’t do any damage due to the focus is about causing as much creative indirect chaos as much as possible and let your team or the enemy deal with the targets.

Denying an enemy access to the medic’s healing/ubers and engineer’s building is viable as well.

If friendly fire is restricted to just the sentry gun along with the lack of an engineer and medic on either teams I suggest the effects of disguised and ammo wasting.

For example blue player fire a round at a teammate who is the soldier, thus painting that person as a red soldier.

Targets hit by the paint round will be disguised for about 8 seconds and cannot do any damage to neither teams nor received damages until the effect wears off. Shooting at people while covered in paint will double the player’s ammo consumption rate, while non-painted players doing so will have triple the consumption. In short a complete waste of ammo due to chaos.

anyway here's my new suggestion about the paintball riflehttps://discord.com/channels/196337717267791874/1447181022968938496

That’s fair.

Well, what if it was the other way around? It disguises a teammate from a turret and allows them to use dispensers and teleporters of the enemy team?

signal oracle
#

adding a weapon that punishes the enemy team for having an engi is dumb

sharp dirge
#

Is allowing you to use a suboptimal class in a way that helps your teammates sneak by defenses really punishing you for having an Engi?

signal oracle
#

one, spy isnt suboptimal if your good

#

two, sneaking by defenses is what spy and scout are for. rendering engi invalid or making him an active detriment to his team is stupid

#

and also just not fun

novel fiber
#

Also SPY IS SITUATIONALLY GOOD. HE ISN'T A GENERALIST THAT IS ALWAYS EFFECTIVE AND HE NEVER WILL BE.

rapid urchin
#

Spy is situationally good (the situation is if you're good at him)

novel fiber
#

I mean that if the enemy team is very spy aware you will do worse.

rapid urchin
#

If the enemy team is very spy aware then you change tactics

novel fiber
#

But them being spy aware does make it vetter for offense classes since they are distracted

novel fiber
rapid urchin
#

A lot of "I'm not doing good as spy right now" can be fixed by simply changing where you're playing and what you're doing

#

There are very safe and very risky ways to play and usually the default for players lies somewhere in the middle

#

Changing up these tactics and the ranges of where you play on the map is part of what makes a good spy. It keeps the enemy from being able to acccurately predict where and when you'll turn up or what you're doing.

#

Ofc sometimes it's more fun to just go pyro or engi and eviscerate, but if I really want to stick to spy, that's what I'll do

novel fiber
#

I mean he wont be unplayable but a very spy wary player can quickly stop a pubstomping spy from being nearly as effective

rapid urchin
#

Frankly, most pubstomping spies aren't that good

#

The mark of a good spy isnt how many kills you're getting or how many dominations you have, it's the variety of kills you're getting

novel fiber
#

I mean still in the end these players will often turn around and shoot teammates

#

And therefore make you perform worse

rapid urchin
#

Which is why you play in a different range than they do

#

Further back or further forward, even if you have to play around their spawn

#

Changing that up keeps people from catching on
