I've seen quite a fair few other people try their hand at "minigun but smaller," so I thought I'd try tossing my own hat into the ring!
I've had this idea bouncing around in my head for quite a few years at this point — my initial inspiration was seeing the model design for the Heavy Artillery on Live TF2's workshop (seen here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=229943267&searchtext=artillery)
CODENAME: LMG
*** CLASS: HEAVY
*** SLOT: PRIMARY
*** BASE: MINIGUN
+ No movement speed penalty while spun up
- Succesive shots become less accurate while spun up
--- Note: Accuracy penalty does not reset until the LMG becomes unrevved
- 20% slower firing speed
--- Note: Weapon still fires 4 bullets per 1 ammo consumed, unlike the Tomislav
Some extra notes regarding my design intentions here:
- With this concept, Heavy still needs to rev up in order to fire, which means that (like the Minigun and AA Cannon) you still need to actually commit to using it if you want to shoot.
- The accuracy penalty is intended to penalize Heavies who run around without bothering to unrev.
- The slower firing speed is there mostly just for altering the gamefeel of shooting the gun — it makes intuitive sense for an LMG to not spray bullets out quite as quickly as a full-on minigun, after all.
- My main hope is that this weapon would give Heavy a satisfying run-and-gun playstyle that enables him to roam around a little better than he can with the Minigun or AA Cannon — I imagine it'd feel kinda like you're playing Metal Slug :>
