that aside it'd be less jarring of a mechanic to just like. altfire on an enemy or ally or building and it follows it than needing to look at the scoreboard

And it is just a Sentry on wheels.
Those things are the main changes.

this is my greatest invention yet: the 2v1 inator. you will now always be at an advantige in 1v1 fights
It has less health. I'm thinking about lower it's health more.
And it does less damage than a normal sentry.
How would this work on a map without a navmesh? Straight line towards player?
I honestly thought about it, and I truthfully don't know. I was thinking of it just having a follow player script and not being a bot that has it's own sort of intelligence.
But that would mean it wouldn't be able to go back to the player if the teammate they sent it to dies.
It truthfully wouldn't be like that, it does help in 1v1s but it's an offensive Sentry. It's a mini teammate, just like a normal sentry would be for an engineer.
Because a Sentry with an Engineer is already just 2 players.
This one is weaker but moves with you.
I have shifted some mechanics around. You are now able to mark the player rather than choose a player on the scoreboard. This removes the need for the sentry to use a navmesh and instead only have a follow the player script. I have also lowered it's health to 120.
yea you will always be a 2v1 fight. your opponent will always be in a disadvantage. sentries don't move so you can play around them

That's boring and many find it more annoying.
I would say the more annoying part of the Mini-Sentry isn't the concept itself but how fast you can crank it out after it's down. There is barely any building time, so you can place it near instantly after they destroyed your other sentry.
The Gunslinger, though not a broken concept, broken in it's product.
they need to swap to pda, select it, plop it down and then it has 3s to build
I personally, as an Engi main, despise the idea of a mobile Sentry-guns, the whole point of Sentries is they're confined to one spot, and are very stupid, but their AI doesn't matter if they can just move, its hard to deal with ESPECIALLY if it follows players. want an offensive Engi build? heres an idea, make a different Mini-Sentry, a Sentry that can be set up and fight, but a Sentry that isn't horrid to deal with, something both the Engi and the other team can deal with and come together at the end of the day to say its balanced. Mobile Sentries would just be FAR TOO HARD to balance and would always be annoying
and when he already pre built it he isn't able to shoot you first

And I've seen your concept. That isn't a Sentry anymore, it doesn't help your team. It helps you.
never said it replaced the normal sentry
This weapon is your own buddy, just like a normal sentry. A following sentry can be sent to teammates and placed in positions. And the sentry is like a normal sentry. So delayed aiming, and not the fastest fire rate.

scouts literally can't play the game with this
the whole point of him is being hard to hit but now you have a little aimbot friend
Scouts has been able to run circles around engineer in TF2C.
A. it locks onto opponents, with how Sentries work the only class that can really dodge it is scout
B. A constant stream of damage assisting in battle makes it to where a scout can knock down a soldier easy peasy, the only challange coming from Heavies, one class in a game of 9 mind you
C. Where a normal sentry would NEVER hit you, this sentry would, out of range? well fuck you this sentry followed the scout and will now gun you down
D. Rockets? ROCKETS? this Sentry will ANIHLATE large crowds and it will follow ANYONE.
E. Weaker classes CANNOT deal with this, the whole point of TF2 is to not bully someone out of a class, you're never forced to play a class you don't want to play, thats the whole point.

The major problem is 2 classes can combat it, Pryo (airblast lvl 3 rockets) and heavy (tank the damage and mow down the enemy). other classes would be shredded to tiny pieces
i didn't even notice you could upgrade it. thats so much worse
so it is a lvl 3 by default
with the rockets n stuff

That's even worst, because now its a free mobile level 3 sentry
remove the rockets and we still have problems

there is ONE case I think a mobile sentry could work, a Wrangler sentry (A sentry in which the engi has to aim)
even THEN it still has its issues
I feel its just too hard to balance a mobile sentry
