Do you have any replays that show what you’re struggling with?
I have plenty
my lowest win rate is against ken and other akuma players
ill show akuma replays since they are from today.
1 second
5KGVWESRW -- against a ken player who beat me dozens of times today.
WSSFB67JQ -- against another ken player who beat my ass 5 times today before I blocked him
4YU9S8X8R --- random jamie player and idk or care how he works
this should show everything clear
@celest raptor
OK so first game against the Ken, you missed a lot of anti airs and then pressed after he landed his jump in button that meant he was +
You didn't get full damage when you did land hit confirms and also did a lot of unsafe stuff, like MP target combo on block but no FB at the end to make it safe.
You have a very predictable fireball pattern, you kinda move back into the ideal jump range and then throw one fireball and if it's blocked you instantly throw another one and this ken just jumped on you every time you did this.
You throw out too many raw DI's that are easily punished and cost you round 1.
You're oki timing after the l-tatsu sweep is off, you double dash and delay a grab or m-punch and the ken just mashed wakeup jab.
The second game was pretty much the same thing happening. and the third game i'm not going to watch it if you don't care about how he works
you hardly used ST.HP and forward HP
which are such strong moves to use, especially ST.HP as it's hit confirmable and leads to your strongest combo route
Also you hardly used OD Adamant fist. You need to focus on getting your opponent into the corner with Akuma as that's where his damage is crazy.
You also walk back wayyyyy too much and it's like you want to throw FBs, don't get me wrong Akumas FBs are strong, but you want to get in close to your opponent as that's where Akuma does his work.
and stop pressing when your blocking, it's like you want to steal your turn back but it causes you to lose
Work on your hit confirms from MP target combo if you going to use that a lot on block as you mash MP a lot on block, if they block it, make sure you end in FB to make is safe or OD FB for +2
if it lands, make sure you go into H-Tatsu for corner carry or l-tatsu sweep for oki if they're standing or if they're crouching you can go into drive rush CR.HP to stand them up into htatsu/ltatsu sweep, of if you don't want to spend bar you can go into L-adamant or M-adamant
what is an fb
Fireball
Because you don't know the range well and constantly walk back out of range
Akuma has insane walk speed
idk what situations its even worth it to push that button
you need to learn your distance
but this makes sense
look at this distance, this is where F-HP will land
and it's only -3 so is safe on block, drains half a drive meter and actually spaces you quite nicely for a spacing trap
but yeah you're playing a shoto, so you need to be utilising their ST.HP, it's insane damage and has a huge window to confirm
Also i feel like because you walk back a lot, it's make it harder for you to anti air DP
CR.HP is good but you want to get them DPs down
doing a DP from walking back is a bit harder so try not to give up soo much ground to your opponent and make them work for it
okay thats a bit to work on but i can try
so confirms. fireball at the end of block strings and trying to use dp and hp
Yeah i provided a fair bit because you have a masters character already i would assume you can digest a bit more information
but yeah work on:
Anti air DPs (default to L-DP as this comes out the fastest unless the distance is off and you need M/H-DP)
Optimal combos
Hit confirming (especially from ST.HP and CR.MP)
Utilize ST.HP and FHP (once you have the spacing down)
Safe on block combos so end in L-FB (careful spamming this as it does have a small gap where they can DI but not often will they do it)
And if you're going to throw FBs, you have to be able to DP inbetween so they respec your fireball game
i'd recommend you play whatever you enjoy more
I don't know Terry that much but as you have thousands of games on Akuma, changing to another shoto in the hope that it's "easier" to learn seem counter productive
but give it a go and if you enjoy the playstyle, do it 🙂
i have thousands on both
definetly more time on akuma
which honestly is making this more ego death frustration
and wanting to punch a whole in my wall
after ranked loss aftger loss
Yeah it's tilting no doubt. Just know that you have the ability to get masters as you've proved it before.
now it's about refining your gameplay with Akuma
I'm biased, i love Akuma so i would say yes. and i don't know much Terry so i wouldn't be the best person to advise
plus
Akuma is so strong
Give Terry a go, but from what i saw and i don't mean this as offense but that extra 1000 hp wouldn't of changed the outcome massively
I'm off to bed now mate but good luck and i'll reply tomorrow if you have any more points
nah i should akuma
