Looking for someone that can up my ken game. My weaknesses are:

  • jumps/crossover jumps (i always fail to anti air. It’s easy in training mode but once im in a real battle i always fail).

  • rushers, meaning people spamming moves in such a way that i can’t even move.

  • my combo’s are short and weak. Looking to up this aswell.

Im in EU, hope somebody can hop on and teach.

You kinda got bulldozed this match, that happens sometimes. I do have a couple of points where it went wrong in preventable ways that I'm gonna show you with some screenshots

#

Right here, you made the right choice by punishing a -8 move with an 8f button. But you were just a frame or 2 late, causing a perfect parry. It's an unfortunate situation that comes down to human error, but the way you can avoid this in the future is by A) practicing this punish so you really get it down or B) using a faster move, 6-7f startup will significantly reduce the chance of this happening.

#

Right after this happens the mistakes start to mount though

#

For one you mash jab on every wakeup, which leads to your opponent landing a DR counterhit crMK into a fat combo which puts you in the corner

#

Another unfortunate thing happens while you're there, you hold parry just a bit too long and she punishes your recovery frames which wouldn't have been possible had you let go after parrying the first hit

#

That should have lead to the round being over but she keeps dropping her combos

#

I'm gonna continue as if she didn't drop it and took the round immediately here

#

Round 2 you're mashing jab on wakeup again and you get hit for it, once again landing you squarely in the corner.

Here's another big mistake, from the corner you try to jump in on an opponent who's at the perfect range to anti-air you from that position, who's already shown you she's capable of doing so. In this case she's already started her offense with Cruel Fate which also covers jumps and you get hit again. If that was EX Cruel Fate you would have probably just lost the round right there.

#

For some reason you keep jumping backwards while cornered, you did that at the end of round 1 too. There's not really any reason to jump in that position, nevermind neutral/backjump. I guess you're trying to avoid a throw? But getting hit by Serpent Lash would probably do more damage, so you'd be better off taking it imo.

#

If anything you're lucky all you got hit by was a jHK

#

You get a good Drive Reversal out of the corner but then she immediately Drive Reversals you back in. I'm gonna say she guessed right here and there's not much you can do to stop that from happening. But in a situation like this if you want some breathing room you could throw a fireball. You haven't thrown a single one all match.

#

Caught mashing again, three times in one match. You gotta respect your opponent's oki.

#

Respect it by blocking, or disrespect it with an EX DP. Mashing like this only works if your opponent isn't on point with their meaties. But this AKI has established she doesn't have a problem with getting her meaties right.

#

Right after this you jumped back in the corner again and got hit for it, but you'd have gotten hit if you jumped forward too so this was just a bad guess. Still though, see above with the meaty thing.

Not everyone is nearly as on point with their meaties as your opponent in this replay was but you cannot just mash or jump every wakeup.

#

Which is what you did in this match, you mashed or jumped every single wakeup and you kept getting punished for it

The medium lash has a more shallow angle but the point remains

#

And then my final point is about this jinrai, I'm not sure if you intended for that to come out or not. I'm assuming this was supposed to be stHK but you accidentally inputted a qcf and got Jinrai. That sucks, but I can tell you with some certainty that it would have ended the same way. This is not in range of stHK. AKI would have been able to jump over it.

#

It was her mistake in this case to neutral jump in the corner, probably expecting drive rush. Worked out in her favor this time.

#

In summary:

You got a bit unlucky at points but this match could have flipped on its head had you respected your opponent a bit more.

Your unfortunate mistakes and mishaps are far outweighed by the amount of times she caught you jumping or mashing when you should have just been blocking.
