The problem/difficulty with button controllers is hitting the diagonal. If you're missing the diagonal on qcf's you won't get your special.

Yes the diagonals are not a problem, tried normal imputs and SOCD and the diagonals are not the issue.

sounds like the issue is inputting the moves for the special/super outside of the cancel window

From what I saw from beginner I played with, the special input window is always "too late" people tend to start the input when they saw the first move hit, the cancel window is very short, you can't "hit confirm" all your normals into special. When in a combo you have to think "my move hit, so I input the special event before the normal visually hit".
The input special has to be faster than you think
