Im sure youve heard this already but the honest answer is walk forward and block. If you are struggling with it dont even worry about doing parry. Once you are in punching distance they cant throw anymore fireballs
To add on to this. If you scout a fireball and you're in gladius range thats a free gladius punish. But yeah if they're punishing other options then walk forward and block is really the only way to deal with it.
Parrying and blocking are both options for dealing with fireballs that have their own situational benefits and disadvantages. Parrying means you (mostly) negate drive gauge chip and prevents you from being pushed backwards, at the expense of being more of a committal option and 'locking' you into the animation (in the event that they choose to move forward after the fireball). Blocking means you take chip damage and it pushes you backwards slightly, but it's overall safer and not much of negative.
The closer you are to the person throwing the fireball, the more dangerous it is to throw them. If you're within jump-in range, if you correctly predict a fireball before it happens you get a massive punish. The tradeoff is that you can easily be baited into jumping and promptly anti-aired. It's an active game of interaction and patience.
Thanks, this is actually the first i've heard of it XD
Haha no worries. It sounds very simple but it's not. I like to say it's simple but difficult.
