I'm hoping to receive advice on systematically improving my gameplay, along with recommendations for specific areas to concentrate on for learning.

I've reached Diamond, and I've established a solid grasp of the game's basics and general fighter mechanics. However, I would like to take my game to a higher level. At the moment, I'm missing a structured approach or a clear improvement plan.

I would appreciate it if you could share your training or growth routines for Street Fighter or other fighting games. The more detailed your insights, the better. I understand there is no one-size-fits-all approach, so please feel free to add anything you might think could be useful.

Thanks. 🤓

Do you have replays so we can see strengths and weaknesses?

#

As you said there’s no one size fits all, so replays can give us a grasp of what you excel at and what you need to improve on

#

And it helps lay out goals

Sure, I'll post a few matches in a minute.

#

I was also thinking if people have a set plan they follow when they want to improve in a game. Wanting to use your time in-game more effectively.

there are resources here that go over the topics you're asking about

#

particularly in the initiation tab under 'learning', and in the strategy tab overall.

Yeah let me take a look. Just got done with my meeting

#

Ok game 1

#

First thing I noticed

#

You were straight up getting out footsied

#

Is that a word?

#

You need to get better at spacing your buttons and be more patient

#

The onus was on the Kimberly since you have a fireball, but you gap closed without really setting up the fight

#

Also you use drive impact in neutral a lot

#

For a character with an invincible DP you use it when you feel pressured way too much. The Kimberly didn’t adapt but I’m guessing in another set or two she’d start drive impacting you back

#

Learn to deal with pressure more organically and not commit to using impact

#

Like drive reversal is great

#

Other than that, matchup knowledge is important at diamond onward. I think there were a few of Kimberly’s buttons you didn’t know how to deal with and got a little abused for

before any of that, i'd say the main issue is pressing when you shouldnt.
i.e. when you dont have the advanatage or spacing to do so safely.

#

helps to know when you should or shouldnt. turning on data display in replays helps with that, so you can actually see what's plus or minus, or even punishable.

^ yeah this was what I meant when I said footsies. Maybe I didn’t word it too well, but you were getting a little abused for pressing buttons in neutral

#

Also I don’t feel like you use EX moves as much as you should

#

You gave up a lot by not extending combos while Kimberly was far more liberal with her drive usage which resulted in greater pressure on you

tardy sierra
#

Yeah repeating theme across all 3 games was footsies

#

And not being able to get out of pressure and apply enough of your own

Thanks guys!
I didn't expect a full blown report. 🙏
The information is invaluable. I am aware that I have a bad habit of using DI a lot. It's a bad habit I dragged over from SF4 when I used to do it with Focus Attack.

#

How would you guys go on about improving in these aspects?

Play more tbh. I learned spacing and footsies from playing while putting a real mental emphasis on pressing buttons only when my opponent will get hit by them. Know the startups, how plus or minus you are, and what a punish, counter, or normal hit you can convert off of each of your pokes. After that, start progressing into frame traps and spacing traps. This is stuff you really want to steal from top players. Watch them play and see exactly what they’re doing to space and steal it

#

Really good resource for footsies and the excel sheet also has a lot of resources on the topic

#

What I said above is just what worked for me

#

But everyone learns differently so feel free to explore
