Hi I am Octo I am new to Street Fighter and have begun playing SF6 I have been maining Kimberly and Using Classic Controls (Because I have to be difficult) I was looking into getting better and was led to this discord from the resources on the Street Fighter Reddit.

I am mainly looking for advice on how to get better both in general and if possible on my specific character, I know SF6 is still relatively new so I am unsure on how difficult it is to get character specific advice. I have played fighting games in the past but nothing as technical as SF, mostly Smash Bros. I know what some of my issues are but am unsure how to work on them.
Also I am pretty unfamiliar with discord so I hope I am doing this correctly lol

Welcome. What are those issues you mentioned?

And some replays if you can.

Hi One of my biggest inputs is that I can do the directional input somewhat consistantly but only in trainging when I am in an acutal battle I struggle to get them out correctly or in time. Additionally Certain inputs I struggle with mostly any input that requires 2 quarter circles.

#

Also I struggle with the actual strategy of battle, like punishing, combos and what to do in certain circumstances. Also how do we post replays, I am on PS5

I’m guessing controller?

Use the dpad instead of the stick/nub

#

Other than that, it’s simply execution

#

Turn on input display in training mode to see if your inputs are clean

#

Start slow and clean

#

Speed will come

#

As for strategy, at your level, there are so many resources out there so I won’t repeat the general advice

Just focus on getting down one thing at a time and work your way up by building one skill after another

Find one thing you want to do and figure out how you want to do it.

#

Like if youre looking to practice punishes for example and convert for a basic combo

#

Look for a move you know is punishable on block and drill out doing that combo after every time you block that move

#

You'll learn a lot of things in the process like the importance of blocking and defending
