the main thing about being a duo is not focusing on being the same speed but focusing on making sure you can finish your own contribution to the build
something a lot of professional speedbuilders will do is who "leads" the build as in one person builds the theme while the other makes scenery or helps with filling in the main build.
it doesnt matter how much the secondary person does as long as they can finish something they started and contributed

google wont help if you dont even know the basics, youll just get stuck trying to figure out how to replicate things and run out of time, which will leave you feeling defeated and unmotivated. Once you can build things on your own such as terrain or organics, you can look to google or other sources as inspiration, but I recommend to not to use it for everything you build since that can kill creativity and your own personal style.
I personally only use google if I'm building an organic for the first time, like an eagle. I watch videos and look at images of the bone structure of the animal and replicate it in whatever pose I think would look best. I wouldn't recommend it since you are just starting out and it's pretty advanced, but if you ever get into organic making thats how I do it.
the best way to get better at building is to set a goal like 3 or 4 wins a day, and find others who are more skilled to just play with you, and you will catch on very quickly.
