Because it was the most successful minigame across most bedrock servers before skywars and eggwars/bedwars became big on java servers. It is also a gamemode that more people will understand because its based off the hunger games.

There’s also the fact that when lifeboat was the biggest bedrock server most the players played sg

Also have to keep in mind that despite sg not being updated it still shows amazing results player wise. Sg hasn’t had a huge update since boomboxes and yet it still hits 2k players at peak and averages 500 for most hours of the day
