If you want to encourage currently running players or new players to play MM, a prestige system is not the way to go, imagine looking at the locker and the majority of the new content is after more than one prestige.
As @civic ledge already iterated before, prestige is a competitive concept and doesn't belong in MM. TW? SW? SG? Bridge? Sure, but other party games can't justify it

Most of the updates are geared towards stopping people leaving who got bored, not towards getting new players. Take the deathrun update for example. More Levels past 40 don’t matter to people at 15. However, they get new maps and stuff.

Also, this would be a way to add more content along with prestige, nulling the main argument against it.
