Fondly enough, Facility turned out to be a cake walk after avoidance since I had to make sure I was on mushroom side when spawning. Tropica is solid for conventional routing, Boardwalk is linear to a fault, Tuscany makes me dizzy, Harbor makes me paranoid, and Construction makes me sad.

Scaffolding overhang on the first turn where there's an upstairs room, you can hide. It's not out of reach, since you can 100% hit blocks up there, even when unset, but the knockback pushes them up into an unreachable ceiling without blockhopping.

I've literally seen it once and I think the person hiding didn't realize until I just blankly stared dumbfounded at him. I think I'd learn to dislike those maps again if runners would use them more often though; Tropica is 100% a skill check if someone knows running routes to make me trip and stumble over every fence and slab.

Only when there's people running that learn the map. It's a cakewalk otherwise when left to solo seeking, most people running will otherwise take standard lines that you can flank.
But Vortex brought a sincere fear to that map when he caught me offguard with it, I'm just fortunate to have too much guilt to frequent with other top players. Don't like feeling like someone just tuning onto Hide and Seek for a silly romp gets spammed with 60 second matches with four all time players sending you to Pripyat and nowhere else.

Mmmm, there's a good handful where it 100% depends on the server for me. Running can turn maps like China Town and Harvest into crapshoots, alongside new maps going belly-up the moment someone feels like practicing their seeking routes as a hider.
And I still maintain that Town Square is way more seeker friendly if you ignore the running blocks and just do your route first.

For me, 100% cutoffs. I'm no good chasing the whole while, I'd rather find everyone else sitting around to start chasing after one moving block to make cutting easier. Otherwise, just taking angles where I can turn potshots into shoves into a wall to stop their momentum, which is just true for everyone I catch moving.

Yeah, exactly! There's people that have great chances on maps I don't get to see because that reflex to leave comes at the expense of seeing running routes and tendencies. Although that is a bit baffling since I recalled stumbling upon some old videos and snippets of gameplay showing something similar on Hacienda resulting in the hiders being automatically killed. Might not be a feature enabled on every map, but I would've figured contrariwise.

I'd been an established name back on Mineplex Block Hunt and managed to scrounge an all-time top100 spot before the server got shut down altogether. Figured it was a fair pivot in the betweenwhile since there wasn't much else I had the mechanics or skillset to thrive.

Yeah. Since then, it's been on and off since Minecraft is one of the few games I can depend upon working through various devices and places for solid enough internet. I'll have stints of monthlong grinding now and again, but most of my playing was too passive to come from any motivation beyond being capable enough at it. Wish I'd spent more time with the earlier names that wound up leading the all-time leaderboards though, considering there's still so much left in the dark to me. Didn't even realize the whole reputation thing around some names I'd only recognize from seeing them in passing games, no less how developed some gameplans become that I'll see in the same environment as randoms.
Although I can't pretend being an "established Mineplex name" has much merit. I'd played before when things were copacetic, but I made that push when the server was far from playable. You'd have to get a hacked engine to load earlier builds of Bedrock just so you could still see hiders at that point, alongside all sorts of Out of Bound spots and habits still built into how I play today.

Interesting backstory of yours, although I can't say the same for me. I cant remember playing Mineplex or if I ever did before. Granted I was like far younger before and didn't really play much "outside minecraft" (referring to servers), as I cared for creative, survival and worlds with friends more. But the reputation thing, I can understand that (if I'm understanding your point well enough)
Tbh the reason why I even play hns in the first place was because back in 2023, it was either minecraft or among us, and I'd play hns all night (not every night though, also with music and on my handheld switch) until it nearly died or for another reason why I had to get off. Which went on for about 2 months I think, which I stopped around level 56 at the time. But for now? I just wanted level 75 (and also to try get number 1 on the monthly lb, but still emu is playing everyday, I decided in the top 20 was good enough)

No, you're following along well! Appreciate any effort given to follow, English isn't the sort of thing I thrive at on an informal level. Mineplex was so busted at that state, it was abandoned by most people that would put up anything resembling a competitive grade since the product was hardly suitable for being played normally, no less with the mindset to grind towards leaderboards. Hell, even the leaderboards for Block Hunt had to be put on a separate link altogether since the developers had no reason to continue support once the money left.
I figured soon enough that leaderboards wasn't much to chase since it gave a better reflection of how much you played in a month before how well you played. Cap getting top 10 just being AFK the entire month told me as much to still be true, alongside top members being mass parties just plowing through a narrowed gameplan designed to do well with little adversity. Hide and Seek is just a fun pastime while juggling studies and other hobbies, since I can just run through the motions absent-minded with lectures in the background.

In my experience running gives u empathy for runners while seeking gives u the sense that most seeker mains aren’t that good
