Zhadow had really great IQ but just wasn’t that good at chasing. Abated is a little better skill wise. The thing they both have going for them is that their friend group is massive and will try to overwhelm you. It honestly isn’t too bad especially on the right maps. I argue that I’m the best runner of all time on Nexus and I beat sugarkill and abated plus the 12 randoms randoms that were all seeking on Nexus. I have the clip saved, it’s about a 3 1/2 minute clip of me being chased because all the randoms died immediately

Now, it is hard to gauge a runners skill, my definition of a good runner is they are skilled at getting out of situations that do not favor them and their ability to create distance between them and those chasing after them. The best example is a runner using some form of juke to get out of a position they would’ve usually died in or using a Neo jump to create large amounts of separation, usually due to the seeker falling

I think that's absolutely a component, it's a distinction of management where disregarding a lower profile and optimizing a gameplan conditional to running alone, it's creating distance and maintaining good awareness to surroundings and how the environment can allow for breaks and openings. You do cover the element where there's little mechanical separation when not applied appropriately; it's no good being able to perform difficult jumps or take advantage of map layouts without the wherewithal to find those moments ideal to take advantage. Balancing that risk reward and understanding the seeker requires an adaptable nature that I feel shows best when dividing that upper echelon of runners, the same criterion that I can recognize in Allie and YY where those routes feel prescribed and not unique to the situation whatsoever, lest unique if you play the same maps for that routing.

I honestly feel a solid determinant if you need a metric of that skill is how runners respond in pressure, as you put; putting that litmus forth and seeing what they've got in their arsenal if the map isn't conducive to providing an escape option. How cross-ups are used or overused where it catches them in a rough predicament, whether they form zugzwangs and demand interaction to find that opening, whether going so far as engaging and hitting to create that knockback. Those are all tells at the minimum to playstyle, but further speak volumes to the quality of a hider in those situations.

I'd also absolutely want to see that replay, I'm curious what you'll make use with Nexus City since the map is dynamic for how condensed it happens to be. I tend to just farm the randoms and then wait for runners as the finals and play defensive to cut off those lanes, but having gone a few matches focusing those runners makes me see better what they'll utilize to take advantage out of disadvantageous positions.

I’d have to find the clip. I try to prioritize the element of being unpredictable. I also used the Neo jump in the beginning to create distance. One factor that worked in my favor is that Abated Apple was being very passive and trying to cut me off when I was on the lower level by jumping down so I really had one direct issue in Sugarkill. Due to me playing against sugarkill a few times, I remembered what his strengths and weaknesses were and used it to my advantage. For abated I knew he would grow impatient so I would bait him into jumping down and cause him to put himself in a disadvantaged position where I could gain distance and could choose where I wanted to take the chase. They had a hard time working together so it was more of dealing with 1 seeker at a time then with them both. I won’t lie, they almost killed me due to all of the other players running around and hitting me when I ran by but I ended up winning the 1v14 I think it was. Sugarkill doesn’t like me anymore unfortunately 😭💀
