Good on you for eking yourself onto all time leaderboards? Believe you were the one who managed that, last few to still depend on hiding spots when the greater narrative for leaderboard players was getting good at running and not much further from back then.

And Harvest not best map, that and Pripyat always devolve into the same gameplan and my joints cannot keep up when you decide you want to run laps on the second floor of the barn! I feel the same about Town Square since it's a lot of longer ranged chasing, I'm sure it's engaging as hider.

very few good runners just run laps around the same thing unless ur being particularly annoying tbf

Is that so? I've come to be so complacent in top runners just idling from one destination to another and dawdling for time until contested. A la Hospital garage being the focal area until two people pinch them off, thus running in the open for a bit.

Hospital might not be the best example for how small it is, although that style is what I'm used to seeing since most runners I encounter will flex Town Square as their proving ground.

Harvest will 100% have people running from the awnings adjacent to spawn, although barn ends up being something of a zugzwang with enough pressure. China Town sometimes has runners that depend upon the clotheslines to make larger loops, reentering when falling off.

I honestly think the maps made weren't inherently conducive to the approach of running and fleeing to secure victories, thus resulting in clunkier adaptations where attempting to play to that accord either feels monotonous or cramped. Large enough maps with open spaces suffice, but it's not like it's a constant for maps to be built towards that style.

My Town Square is just as reductive as seeker since it's about as valid to create zugzwangs through boxing and blocking options from the inner circle. That might force the constriction for the hider to leap down, that gives you plenty more options to jump before them.

Which now learning how different a mindset appears with Java hide and seek and that formula not translating equally to bedrock, wild to see such dissonance in how that playstyle is viewed.

Out of general interest, how come the prevailing sentiment among higher levels and leaderboard competition seem to be avoidant towards the newer maps?

I've got some idea in ambivalence apropos little incentive to learn new maps that would compromise rates of efficiency and concistent play, the same attributes you'd need to find marked rates to land on leaderboards. But nevertheless, it feels unusual when that uppermost echelon that should be most aplomb and adept at a gamemode like Hide and Seek reserve matches to no more than 5-6 maps.

I'd imagine that to be most probable, however I'd also wonder if there's a component to those maps just not suiting a playstyle that thrives with the old maps just the same. It's one thing for seeking since those are more difficult maps to learn, but I feel playing hider and running without being beholden to given locations or camouflaged spots, that shouldn't be as much of a barrier for entry.

the newer maps are pretty mid as a general rule

the only one thats fun to run is tropica and the only one thats fun to seek is tuscany and there are much better maps for both

and tropica isn't even that fun to run its less interactive sunset terrace

facility is blinding, harborstead is for dodgers and noone else, boardwalk is lame and somehow both too open and not open enough, and construction is terrible

Best pure hider: AnAbsurdName, An Odd Jester.

And afraid that I'd honestly make a fair case that Hurricane is the best in what results would attest. A few people could etch their names through an alt, two accounts at most. Never saw anyone who managed to do that with 4+ accounts.

Although Frost does go hard both with seeking and hiding, that could be a correct answer and I'd believe it.

Yeah, it's 100% subjective and most of those names could be anyone, those were just the ones I looked up to when playing the game.

I also meant hiders that don't just run the entire game, there's a handful that found out of bounds spots and I thought you were one of those.

Is YY really that objectionable as a top hider? They're one of the few I even see on a consistent basis, I'd love to know what other names I should be looking for.

Well it’s harder to tell with scoopes. He has some pure chasing skill but he’s best when he’s with someone else. He knows how to predict a runner and has good IQ

Most of the times I came across top level players was through being friends with AbatedApple and getting invited to parties with 4-5 top level seekers that'd all throw to clean rooms.

He quite literally said he'd boost me to leaderboards if he wanted without much hassle, that's what got much of the traction for him onto leaderboards.

YY still plays, that's the sole reason I see them highly since they're on all time and frequent the game still. Not many regulars from then, occasionally people like Crehper, Allie, Hyxdea, Frost, Qtip. But the rest are new faces, or at least new enough to be worth mentioning.

Oh yeah, they do that with me too. They'll just leave if the map isn't Town Square, Pripyat, or sometimes Harvest. Even so, I'll see them hit by regulars enough where I just go through standard seeking and bank that enough people will pressure them into a corner.

I at least understand not wanting to play through certain maps with a more aggressive competition, but it's so automated without working enough times to warrant it.

A lot of the other names worth mentioning are people that get on leaderboards just on endurance. They'll play the same way any level 50 plays, they've just done it enough to eke out on leaderboards.

They're just not doing enough different to be given much credit besides what leaderboards show, I get that. Plenty of people I've encountered doing that falter the same, it might be bias from all-times placement and how long I've seen them.
