The objectively best way to get XP is through death, but you have to know how to play him well. If you're gonna target whoever you think is in 1st or use a trap the moment someone steps onto one, you're better off as a runner. The way you want to play death is to wait until you have a group of runners on the trap & THEN use it to reap the most amount of kills per trap usage. Assuming you finish everytime you play as a runner, you get a fixed amount of XP as a runner on every map. Now the XP you get as death is based on how many kills per trap use you get.

Now if you still want to take the runner option, the best way to get XP is to vote for the maps that give the most XP. Each map has a different amount of XP you get for each checkpoint, but it's a fixed amount that's different on every map. The maps you want to be voting for are Viaduct, Snowfall, & Gardens as these give the most XP (assuming you reach every checkpoint before the game ends). Maps you want to stay away from are Toys & Metropolis (currently named as Snow City) as these give the least amount of XP.

Hey, for your information and for anyone wondering reading this, I won't be doing the leaderboards anymore after January. I have important things to focus on like college and finding a job. But to answer your questions, yeah i do find deathrun easy, I've been familiar with what to do to get really fast times and its already muscle memory. For your second question I think either DeathRun or Murder Mystery would be the easiest leaderboards to get on.
